After Misano's mistake, Jorge Lorenzo desperately needed to make up some points on Valentino Rossi at Aragon. The only problem was a very quick Marc Marquez looked likely to take the lion's share of the spoils in Spain.
Lights out and storming start for Lorenzo meant Marc was playing catch up while Rossi was back in fifth with Iannone and Pedrosa in the way of a desperately needed podium slot. And then The Doctor's job suddenly got a whole heap easier as Marc hopped off. Lorenzo may have been clear in the lead, but you had to reckon Vale had the beating of the Honda and Ducati ahead - especially as both riders were recovering from injuries. Or did he?
Having shadowed Pedrosa for most of the race, Rossi left it until five laps from the end to have a nibble. Unsuccessful at first, he had another dig a lap later, which was again defended by Dani. Was it about to get dirty? Another lap down and with only two left was Dani about to ruin the Rossi party? One more unsuccessful dive by Rossi and Dani was still ahead. Could he get him on the last lap?
After an amazing Rossi overtake, Dani refused to back down and a bold move saw Rossi drop back again. Then he gained second briefly with a do or die move before Honda power saw Pedrosa safely home. More points to Jorge and frustration for Rossi, but what a last lap for the neutral fans.
Pedrosa eventually held second place
Moto2 and with an Aprilia MotoGP contract in his pocket, Sam Lowes is all set for the next two years and can enjoy the rest of the 2015 Moto2 season. Something that showed as he got a cracking start, challenging for the lead on the first lap before a red flag stopped the race. The second start saw Lowes once again get a good one and settle down into third spot in a group of five riders making a break for it. A fairly tame Moto2 race was made exciting by Rabat and Rins battling at the front and Lowes securing third. A win for Rabat and the championship battle goes on another round.
Moto3 and despite his large points advantage over Bastianini, Brit Danny Kent is on a bit of a wobble and a decent result at Aragon would have been very welcome to calm his nerves. Not that his first lap helped as the Brit dropped from his front row start to eighth. As long as he could stick with the leading pack to catch their slip stream all should be good and with 13 to go he hit the front. Aragon isn't a track that allows Moto3 riders to escape and entering the last lap the win was still on for Kent, but more importantly, Bastianini hit the ground. Then so did Kent! A silly mistake by the Brit when he had an easy podium spot, but incredibly lucky as well that his main challenger also messed up!
