Unless I'm mistaken the stats say 3 minutes not 3 hours. I took the cover off as suggested and left it on the arm of the sofa for a couple of hours, in that time the screen definitely didn't light up. When I woke it again the battery was on 63% which was roughly were it was before, result I thought. Then the battery jumped to 50% in one hit. I've got a screenshot of a graph from one of those apps. I'll upload in the morning when I get on the laptop, not sure how to do it directly from the nexus.

I think its 3 hours, it wouldn't use 65% for just 3 minutes.

I'm going by the 2nd from bottom screen grab, says screen on 3m 51s.

Think I've managed to upload direct from nexus

It was flat lined for just under two hours when it was sat untouched and then dropped dramatically a few seconds after turning on. Very strange.

That's how mine used to be. Now it's dropping about 10% an hour when not in use and about 1% every 5 minutes or so when in use. I phoned the Google helpline earlier, spoke to somebody in the US I think, glad it was a free phone number. Didn't really get anywhere, she said to reset it and try it for a few days, if no joy phone back and see what they can do under warranty. Since then it's been exactly the same so hopefully they'll swap it for a new one.

The issue for me is that it won't charge at all when in use even with low screen brightness or no wifi. I use the charger from my Samsung phone as the nexus charger only charged 38% over 8 hours where the Samsung one could top it in 6 hours. So weather its the charger or tablet i'm not sure but do any of you guys find it won't charge when you're using it even on low demanding apps.

Thanks

Guaranteed your Nexus charger has more grunt than your phone one. Make sure you are using the charger AND CABLE, that came with your Nexus.

A mate of mine has seen slower charging as he was using a different micro-USB cable.

I've got some very cheap micro-USB cables that are terrible for charging - not just the Nexus but even my old HTC Desire used to manage to run down in use while plugged in and charging.

Hi-spec charger and cable make a big difference.

I'm tempted to get a N7 cradle for a proper longer cable and for the cradle but my N7 is always in a leather case which will be a pain to take out all the time for the cradle.

My original cable broke with in the 1st week don't know what cable I am using most of the time it recharges fine while I www searching etc then sometimes it just refuses to recharge and even consumes battery while plugged in! Just one of those wierd tech things.

Has any one bought a cradle?

I bought one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/PortaPow-Charger-Blackberr...

It charges my Nexus 7 very fast with the supplied adaptor. It went from 15% battery to full in less than 3 hours.

Yesterday I bought the Asus Fonepad which is essentially a Nexus 7 with a phone capabilities. Everything about it is superb except it doesn't seem to be able to pair with my Creative WP250 headset. Anyone else had any problems pairing with the Nexus?

Nope, have paired my N7 with an AKG bluetooth headset, a Philips bluetooth dock and a couple of computers, all worked fine...

There was a rumour of one with a 1080p screen and upgraded chipset, see : http://www.knowyourmobile.com/google/google-nexus-...
But all the rumours said it'd be launched at Google I/O. It wasn't.

It could still be on the way, but exactly what and when, who knows.

At the price point the nexus sells for, and it's spec already, is that really an issue? ....if it was concerning a ipad at over £300 I could see the point.

Very true!

I was looking at the 32gb version as its 189 in PC world.

I know tech moves on, i just dont like buying something to have the better faster thinner version the same price 2 weeks later!

Having just brought one all I can say is that I'm very impressed....I used to have a Blackberry Playbook and it was absolutely useless.....It spent more time in my drawer than I used it...

I got some great tips from PH, especially the one about buying a pre paid SIM off Amazon...saves about £12 per year (hey it all counts) as opposed to paying £7.50 pm with T-Mobile...although they agreed to reduce the bill to £5pm if I stayed....makes it worth phoning them if you're currently with them...

I can do better than that, check out ovivo, £15 one off payment for 500mb a month. Working fine in mine, you have to view a 4 second advert once a day if you do any browsing, but that's the only catch.

Be aware though, mostly the N7 is great.
Infrequently the fking pile of st wk crap bks tosser thing just freezes after you've spent 20 minutes typing. grumpy

It's quite robust though; despite a not insubstantial whack against the wall it's fine.
