Rather liked "Robo Cop" as well, took a few mins for that one to sink in.
Pity it wasn't "Eddie Shoestring", would have explained Carols accent.

Do you need to stay until the end of the credits - or can you safely leave once they start?
That'd be telling biggrin

I don't want to spoil it for you so lets just say that I'd stay <nudge-nudge> wink

Here's the biggest plot disaster for future films...

Yes, I spotted this too, I thought they'd end up with just one dramatic vial left or Khan would burn but now they've popsicled him they've got unlimited supplies.

Then again maybe that's the plot for the third one, they revive him for blood and he escapes. Huge tactical space battles follow.

The third movie is surely going to be about Klingons.

I say there and googled it during the credits. There isn't anything apparently.

Hmm good point....

Although where did they put 'them' after being frozen again?

Anyone a true Trekkie and realise the link to the original TV series with the new science officer?

Completely passed me by, but is mentioned on Wikipedia (and is potentially a spoiler for future films).

Until his revival, I was worried it was going to be "The Search for Kirk"!

I certainly hope so, as mentioned in my previous post we haven't really seen a decent big space battle in the new ones yet which is rather disappointing considering that it's usually one of the staples of the series and the technology is now there to do this some proper justice.

They had the perfect opportunity in this one to pitch the Enterprise against the new ship but seemed to bottle it for some strange reason. Here's hoping we get some proper large scale pew pew in the next one. The opening scene in First Contact against the Borg was brilliant so I'd love to see a full scale Klingon vs Federation tear up.

No pew-pew these days - BSG killed that. Just silence and, if the current view is from within a ship, whatever sounds would be heard on that ship. I find it much more atmospheric.

To be fair there's already a great bit in the opening scene of the first one where the hull blows open and the camera follows an unfortunate crewwoman into space and it suddenly all goes quiet.

Is a clue, rather than a spoiler, but just to be sure:

She and Kirk have history.

She's the creator of the Genesis device in Star Trek 2 - The Wrath Of Khan. In that film we find out she has actually given birth to Kirk's son, a fact he is unaware of. The son is subsequently murdered in Star Trek 3 - The Search For Spock.

Sadly, Trek wasn't ever about big space battles. It occasionally had them, but it was rare for them to do epic battles.

And they did pitch the enterprise against the new ship. The enterprise got its butt comprehensively kicked

Thoroughly enjoyed.

Did anyone think that with the whole 'The Chair' bit with Sulu we might be seeing The Excelsior making an appearance in the future?

Surprised to find that the role reversal bit didnt feel forced, if i'd known at teh beginning it was going to be in there I would have imagined it to be really cringeworthy

DS9 had some huge space battles towards the end of the series - and 'The Way of the Warrior' episodes were pretty cool, too.

DS9 got all the best CGI scenes, Sacrifice of Angels was the winner.

Trekkies always seemed to hate DS9 but I loved it.
