Without the cash rich Arab and Russian helping football agents realise their dreams, it would have been silver and bronze for us both.

Without a shadow of a doubt.
Yup and that's where we have to hope FFP actually works.....in theory Abrmovich can't just go and give Mourinho £100mil to spend. We'll see.

They want £30million apparently. He's not an out and out striker so it'll be intresting to see where Arsne would play him if it goes through. Behind Giroud would be my guess, although Jack loves that same role.

I'd like Higuain (sp?) from Real personally.

It wont. He will.

Chelsea and city are the cancer of football, we can both take solace in the fact that at least our clubs are doing things properly.

Congrats on your 4th place it was a phenomenal run at the end of the season.

And not one of them could have done a better job under the same circumstances. Glad we have him and very proud our club hasn't conformed to what now is the norm.

And ex Arsenal players have gone on to win 44 trophies between them, RVP being the latest at Man United.

Ashley Cole since leaving Arse: 4 FA cups, League Cup, EPL, Europa League and Champions League. Thank you so much for selling us Cole for £5 million, Gallas was a great swap. Leaving Arsenal was the best decision of his career.
Sol Campbell: FA cup
Thierry Henry: Champions League, La Liga
Fabregas: La Liga
Nasri: EPL
Seb Larsson: League cup, you fked up in the last minute hehe
Hleb: La Liga, Champions League, League cup
Kolo Toure: EPL, FA cup
Viera: FA cup, Serie A

We've had some great players.

Out of that list there are only two who I was upset about leaving, the rest ... not so bothered.

We've had a good squad season after season without spending a penny when you take sales into account.

Fair enough, what do you think needs to be done to turn Arsenal back to the invincibles they were 8-10 years ago?

A word class finisher or two, a defensive midfielder and possibly an experienced goalkeeper- to give schezzer somebody to learn from and more competition for places. It's not healthy for a such a young keeper to think he's number 1. Our defence has been pretty solid and we have lots of quality depth in attacking midfield so no need to buy there.

If we keep hold of most of what we've got and bring in Higuain, Jovetic and a defensive midfielder I can see us being more competitive in the league.

Still trotting out the same rubbish I see.

Under what circumstances? It must be tough having one of the best budgets in the Premier league. Whilst our finances are not at the level of Chelsea and the Manchester clubs. Too much is made of the apparent financial restraints whilst continually ignoring the shortcomings of the coaching and management.

I freely admit to acheive champions league qualification this year is a miracle given our position following the Spurs game, however we should never have been in that situation in the first place.

I can't be the only one who has enjoyed 1-0 to The Arsenal in the last few weeks.

I agree. It's ironic that had the Russian Mafia mob finished 5th I wouldn't have given a flying f*ck whether we were 3rd or 4th. I detest Chelsea more than I do Spurs and I really hope Maureen flops when he goes back. The whole of Spain is rejoicing at his departure, the whole of English football will rejoice when Abramovich departs the scene.

Since we last won a trophy;

Portsmouth
Swansea
Wigan
Birmingham

Have all won silverware, they had far fewer resources than The Arsenal, this is born out by the fact that 3 of them have since been relegated.

Do you honestly hand on heart believe in the last 8 years we haven't had a good enough squad to even win the league cup??? Because essentially your view implies 3rd or 4th is the best we can hope for end of.

In an attempt to be balanced, I do believe we would have struggled to win the league in the last 4 years due to the ridiculous petro-money being thrown around by the likes of Chelsea and Man City. I just believe we should have been strong enough in recent years to win the FA Cup & League Cup and I don't believe for a minute that's unreasonable.

We don't bother with the league cup... mainly play the kids and reserves. Winning that wouldn't count as a trophy, it's so tatty that I'm pretty sure Nadal would take a chunk out of it with his celebration.

I'm old fashioned, I have fond memories of the league cup. It's the first trophy we won after I became a fan of the club. I will always remember how proud I felt going to school on the Monday after we beat the great Liverpool side who were double winners the previous season.

No offence Booey but this is half the problem with our game, nothing seems to matter other than the CL these days

I'll be glad when a Euro league starts & all the money boys can play together & keep the money to themselves & let us ordinary fans go back to the day when you woke up & decided what game you wanted to go & watch

Agreed.

Of course, you still can decide what game to watch on the if there is a non-league or lower league club near you.

My nearest club is Leicester City so naturally I don't bother their football is dire!
