205 GTI second time around,,,
Discussion
Got mine retaxed at the start of this month & had if buftied on Monday ready to enjoy the, hopefully, improving weather
Got it booked in for a full service & mot next week so hopefully nothing too expensive will crop up
Although saying that i did get an advisory on the original brake pipes having light corrosion last year so hopefully the little mileage it's done over the last year means i'll be able to put off replacing those until later this year

Thanks Craig, shaping up nicely - Brakes are next... The red bumper trim could really do with a refresh all around but that stuff in decent condition is hard to come by (Unless you want to pay silly money to the ebay lot).
Well keep me posted if you find a decent source for the red trim, mine is the sameThat's mine just been treated to a new set of AD08's today and that has had a remarkable effect on the drive. I bought a set of Speedlines in pretty good nick for £100 but the came with 3 different makes of tyres on. The NSF front was pretty smooth on the inside, tyre still legal but only just.?
Full system exhaust (new & original) has helped the previous slightly blowing version that came off it.
I have covered around 300 mikes in it so far but should get a blast out this week sometime.
When I am turning at low speeds there is a bit of a creak coming from both sides. Track rod end s are new so does that just leave the steering rack or could it be something else.
Also begun changing the water hoses for black silicon ones, pair of headlights coming tomorrow, oil, belt, leads, cap, distributorc, plugs and rear beam have all been done.
It's just turned 70k and the service book is fully stamped

Well i decided to book mine in with Miles for mid July to get a few bits done after I was down there the other week
Mainly getting the wiring through the brown multi plug sorted once & for all so after that hopefully no more starting problems, etc
Oh & a new exhaust manifold as mine has finally gained a hairline crack in it
- although it's lasted well for 22 years without cracking I guess.

It's always a nice journey after leaving Miles's place....both times for me I left with more hp!
When I popped down the other week i found it was a very nice drive there & back (from Surrey) by taking the back roads - well it would have been boring going via the M3 / M27
I'm just looking forward to having a car that starts first time every time & no more having to knock the starter while swearing at it every so often

...is this the solonoid problem or another little foible they have?
It's voltage drop at the starter from the ignition switch 'trigger' wire. A relay in the starter circuit normally sorts the problem.
