When will the M-Division learn that you can't polish a turd.
Really? Why bother posting such drivel?

When I see posts like this I just think either you've been at the wine or know nothing about cars.
Why is it drivel? BMW no longer make a good looking car IMO. So when the M division get hold of one, they're coming from behind. OK the engineering is probably second to none, but god they're fking ugly.

Because it is utter drivel, the F10 is a good looking car and in M5 guise it has great road presence and the interior is so far ahead of an XF for example in terms of fit, finish and tech that it knocks it into a cocked hat.

But not liking the looks is your right but calling it a "turd" is ludicrous and makes you look silly IMO.

Well I guess you do drive a BMW, so it had to be expected. Having had 3 beemers in the past, I can honestly say that they rattled like a good 'un. My new 330ci went back in twice in the first week for rattles. My year-old M3 was back in within a couple of weeks to have the dashboard cover out and all the heater linakges replaced because of rattles, along with the centre console, parcel shelf, door cards, and several speakers. But they were good looking cars, so I tolerated the build quality. Now the good looks have gone, there was nothing to make me buy one. Yes, the engines are still the market leaders, but it stops there.

The fit may be better than an XF, but the XF finish is way better than modern Audis and BMWs, and is a much nicer place to be. I chose the XF as I'm just bored of the ugly German marques, and the XF is IMO one of the best looking cars on the road.

It'll probably happen to you one day too once you lose your rose-tints, but turds the beemers remains.

Put a late 90's 7 series next to an F10 and the old 7 (with the face-lifted bits all over it) looks more purposeful, handsome, interesting, solid, sporty.

I'm sorry but the F10 might be good looking if your metric starts and ends at visually acceptable... but that is as far as it goes for me.

Random VW's and Fords and stuff catch my eye more often than any F10 BMW ever will.

That's the whole point, E60 aside the 5 series has never been a 'look at me' sort of car.

BMW make some munters but the F10 isn't one of them. Mark my words, in 10-15 years time everyone will be raving about the subtle, elegant F10 in the same way they do about the E39 now through their rose-tinted glasses.

Maybe things have changed but I think my 04 vintage Z4 is a revelation in build and reliability and sturdiness.

Maybe a decade of 'progress' has changed things a bit now? I think every BMW you can get went from solid NA motors to high pressure injection and turbos == fail.

I like the new facelift and the wheels look nice in the pictures. The brakes show through nicely smile

Maybe not the last thing in precision but an epic car nonetheless to all those saying its a turd I bet a few days with one would change their mind.............

10- 15 years time? More like 1-3 years time, its like some people don't like to see progress.

Progress and change are two different things.

There is no current BMW I like at all. Well, that is a lie now the i range of cars is released. Refreshing and different and true progress, both visually and underneath!

It's dull and play-it-safe boring in my eyes. Each to their own I guess, as long as you enjoy it that's all that matters.

But strangely I've done over 250,000 miles in 6 BMW's since 2004 and never had an issue with 155,000 of those miles in 2.0d's that never missed a beat (and they got thrashed).

Those that have issues tend to be the noisy minority in my experience.

Pistonheads delivers once again.

A great car with more power, better chassis, nicer wheels with sticky tyres and you're all complaining?

I'd love one personally and welcome the addition of the pack.
