Nice and Rock is a lovely place but that's really not much for £2.25M
Its not a huge amount of square footage, but as a weekend bolthole how much more would you need? It would certainly do me, I like the style (and the views).
It would do me as well but £2.25M is a lot for a weekend pad.
The value of those houses has taken a massive hit since the police got heavy handed on the public school parties on rock/daymer/polzeath. Gone are the days of getting mashed in the mariners, carters and the OC and hitting the beach.

Parents used to have them to keep a vague eye on their kids, and could rent them for fortunes to other such parents. Now the kids dont go to cornwall anymore, the house values have been slashed.

Been posted before.

Looks like a hotel not a home.
I prefer this:

Have had a nose around, its much more homely with 'only' 6 bedrooms!

I love the roundabout at the front - and the grounds!

I hate that. Utterly characterless. And £12.5M; insane.

There are many much nicer houses for much less than that.

But surely that's how all grand country houses once started out - as new builds. It's obviously been built to a very high standard, and the kitchen/bathrooms/public areas seems relatively tasteful. Character will build over time. Regarding price, look at the where it is.

New old houses like that, built in a style, will never be as nice as original houses of that style..

And don't forget

"In addition, planning permission has been granted (RU11/0930) to demolish and rebuild the gate house and to incorporate a full basement of some 4500 sq ft with car lift giving space for up to 10 cars and additional accommodation thus providing around 5400 sq ft overall."

Looking on the map, wouldn't it be under the flightpath from LHR after they take off and head south as well?

They're high enough not to be too much of an issue by there, unless you're particularly sensitive.

What a lovely characterful property. Could while away the days just going around collecting the rent money from the sixteen cottages. biggrin ...and to think it could be had for £1900 back in 1835.

I'm not sure whether to be happy or downhearted by your post, as I was thinking maybe I had lived there in a previous life as it seemed so familiar. frownsmile
