RE: Citroen DS3 Racing: Spotted
Discussion
A couple of questions:
I thought they did have a few performance tweeks, not just stickers, somehow I thought they had some suspension work. I remember Car magazine published a good review when launched?
Stef, what was the engine issue? If it is well known, and you're not the only one impacted, can you give a little more information?
Cheers

I really don't understand this article at all, 'it could have been so much more'? all the press raved about it when it came out, unless my memory fails me.
So what are we left with? New Citroen loses money when second hand shocker..................
Is that all you lot have got to write about?

Agreed, also if you actually look at the other DS3R's for sale you'll realise that this one is stupidly cheap, obviously something wrong with it as they are known for engine faults. Surely one random car being a lot cheaper doesn't stand for the entire models depreciation that makes no sense. So what are we left with? As for people complaining that you could get a lot more for that price, that really depends on your age. Insurance is a massive part of buying a new car, I'm 21 and the insurance rates are ridiculous for anything with a bit of power. I got a DS3R...insurance was half than what it was currently on a standard 1.6 Citroen C4.
At the end of the day I bought it because it's a lot more powerful than anything I've owned before, handles really well and I really like the look of it which if I'm honest is like marmite you either love it or you hate it.

It's not the car's fault you hired the wrong car is it?
A car that can't go up a motorway gradient in 3rd gear, 2 up without turning the AC off is, by definition, crap. It should have been a perfectly capable car for the job, it just wasn't.The Aygo was slow, noisy, tinny and didn't have a single redeeming feature.
I actually think the normal DS3 looks pretty good, but with the racing additions and the price hike, it is pretty hard to imagine who was buying them.

The engine issue was a very bad misfire from cold and also when accelerating at speed.I thought they did have a few performance tweeks, not just stickers, somehow I thought they had some suspension work. I remember Car magazine published a good review when launched?

I appreciate that it is very much a marmite car but when it was working it was actually a very good car and yes it was a lot more than a garish colour scheme. It handled brilliantly, amazing ability to be simply thrown in to a corner, it was pretty nippy throughout the engine band and when required, very economic, I could return 50mpg on a 70mph cruise.
I have to say though, it's an episode in my motoring life I wish I never had, just to much hassle getting it rejected etc and I really wish I hadn't bought it, not for what it was, purely for the problems.
At the point my first one was handed back after I refused a new engine I was aware of four other DS3R's in the UK waiting for new engines, I knew of one which had already had a new engine and a dealer selling an unfixed rejected car.
I think the engine issue is a bit more wide spread than just the DS3 Racing, plenty of web related content on issues in Pug's, MINI's and Citröen with variations of that 1.6 Turbo engine.

No it isn't - you're just not wringing its neck enough! It's a perfect hire car. It'll even do an indicated 103mph in third gear.
Nope, it's awful. Drove one from Geneva to Dijon and over the mountains we had to turn the AC off just so it would go up the motorway hills!I've driven one and it seemed like quite a nice nippy car, more power wouldve been eprfect though

We're not saying make it faster than anything on the road, we're saying with more power it'd be an absolute hoot to drive

I agree with what the other guy said (forgot his username) with 100bhp the C1 would be an immense drive in my opinion and probably deserving of a VTR badge
Fun cannot be measured by how fast you go, it is subjective
I have to admit I dont get your 3rd question
