Scottish Referendum / Independence - Vol 3
Discussion

Goddammit are people still discussing this pointless issue? I, for one, can't wait for the Scots to take a running jump...not that they will of course!
And despite the fact that there is FAR more english people wanting scottish independence then in scotland for some strange reason the nats don't want the english to have a say.
I wonder why?
Can't be racism or so i've been told
It does amuse me that on the one hand, the best hope for Scottish independence would appear to be in a UK-wide vote; and yet on the other hand, it is the one thing the Nationalists cannot countenance, even though it is more likely to deliver their goal. I could even imagine that a "No" vote would go up in Scotland in a UK poll to compensate.
However, I could see that it is much more satisfying for them to flounce off in a huff than to be told "the exit is that way and don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out".

It makes me laugh my socks off
Its one of the issues that makes the nats look like idiots.
If the SNP had half a brain they push like f
k for it to be a UK wide vote before moaning even more then possible and maybe putting VP on the tellyRick_1138 said:
Christ the yes campaign updates my mate shares on Facebook are frightening in their idiocy. Recent one says Scottish households are £3k worse off over 2008, apparentlY it's all westminsters fault and apparentlY there is a 'fairer' way.
It seems the fairer way is communism?
Unfortunately their accountancy leaves a lot to be desired on many fronts:It seems the fairer way is communism?
The consistently quote figures for Scotland's public spending and revenue as part of the UK like they'll magically be the same as an independent country.
Anyone who looks at the figures objectively can see they are nonsense. Others - like the characatures of Nats we've had on here - lie and twist figures like there's no tomorrow then cry 'scaremongering' when those objective folks on here - like me - point this out.
The Nats keep telling us that the islands want to remain part of Scotland but they don't seem to be listening
The Times said:
In an unprecedented gathering, the leaders of the three most distant island councils — Shetland, Orkney, and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (the Western Isles) — united to demand constitutional recognition and control of their assets

We have a family up in Shetland and I love the place.
If Shetland pissed off with all of its oil i'd move up there instantly.
But i can't see the workers republic of scotland allowing that seeing how they feel about freedom and minorities

Oh the Nats seem to be very anti the concept of anyone getting independence from Scotland, it's one of the many comedy elements of their stance. They don't seem to see that the concept of the oil belonging to Scotland fits equally with it belonging to Shetland et al. The only difference is that in a UK context the loss of Scotland wouldn't make a great deal of difference but for an independent Scotland to lose the Shetlands etc would be a big disaster for them economically.

I'm not sure I agree that Scotland's UK exit wouldn't have a significant impact on the rUK economy - especially if (when) we'll end up with a different tax/regulation regime or even different currencies.
That ain't gonna do much to lube the gears.
Why would we need a currencyThat ain't gonna do much to lube the gears.
it only brings unfairness
