If anyone could help and tell me what will happen id appreciate it. I was speeding on the motorway doing 110 and didn’t notice at the time that an undercover was following me. They followed me all the way to a dual carriage way where it was a 50 and I was doing around 90. I got pulled over and told they going to give me points for driving with due care and excise speeding. They let me drive home and told me that they given a verbal warning and i will need to show up in court.

I’ve been driving for 10 months and just wondering what will happen. Thank you.

Pity the OP couldn't be arsed to respond despite starting a 5-page thread with his first post.
Not unusual these days, unfortunately.
For everyone saying I didn’t reply. It was due to it being a new account and I couldn’t for the first 14 days. I have received a letter and to show up in court.

Hello everyone. I appreciate all the comments trying to help me. I couldn’t reply due to the fact it was a new account and I had to wait 14 days. I know I made a mistake and it was very silly and I understand that. I have received the letter and need to show up in court next week. Thank you for the replies.

In that case, I apologise.

If you haven't already done so, I'd get I touch with agtlaw on here ASAP. He will certainly be a great help to you.
Sorry as I am new here. What is AGTLAW if you don’t mind me asking thank you.

So many people are astonishingly gullible in this place :-)

1 post, ever, click bait,. Still, he's got people arguing by page 3 so fair play.
Funny thing is this is real. It’s happened now. Nothing can be done. I just asked what would happen and any help. Learning a lesson from this is expected. Some people have been helpful others have said the most common sense things.

Did the letter say what speed you're being accused of?
Charges: Driving without due care and attention.

Feel free to “press on”, but don’t come on here to complain when you get a driving ban and fined 150% of your weekly income. It was your choice and nobody else is to blame.
I never once complained or blamed anyone else. Just asked for advice and what’s going to happen that’s all. It’s fine by me if you want to waste your time and give negative replies and how it’s my fault like I already don’t know.

I know this is Pistonheads and I know we've all made mistakes - but 110mph in a 50mph zone and not noticing someone following you at that speed - after having your license for 10 months is next level for me. And probably why the new rules have been introduced.
It was at 1am in the night. Due to my back windows being tinted and keep quiet a gap between the undercover. I didn’t suspect anything out the usual. Especially the fact it was on a dual carriageway and was going on about for 10 minutes.

Absolutely agree, driving like that while unaware of your surroundings is bloody stupid and I have no sympathy for the op.
For clarity, my point about people being judgemental was slightly sarcastic, and directed at stuthe calling people holier than thou, but I think it went over his head.
Cue the usual suspects saying speed limits are for generating revenue, it's not necessarily dangerous, it's an arbitrary number on a pole, they're set for the idiots blah blah blah.
I wasn’t asking for your sympathy. Just asked people for advice and what’s going to happen that’s all. I know it’s my fault and I understand that. Also I used to drive for work 8 hours a day for 3 months. I’m very well aware and clued up. It was just a mistake and they sometimes happen. Due to the timing and it being dark and the officers not pulling me straight away. It didn’t set alarm bells in my head and that was a mistake.

You can’t drive so fast and not pay attention. Did you think the bloke following just wanted to race you?
I be so honest with you. They stayed behind the whole time. Acted normal. It’s only after it got onto the dual carriage way and I was about to lose sight of them the lights came on.

How long have you got? Really could be worth investing in a proper brief - you could easily save money in the long run.
My bad for the late reply. My court date was yesterday. I couldn’t attend due to family emergency. I had got in contact with Laywers and they had told me to write a heartfelt statement on my actions which I had done. I’m positive even if I did go or didn’t it would result in a 6 months ban. It was my fault and I have to face the consequences which I’ve accepted now.

I’d highly recommend an IAM Roadsmart course to the OP once he gets his license back again.

I’m not trying to brag or anything. I’m very aware of my surroundings. Not everyone’s perfect 24/7. That night it was 1am and I simply lacked and was having fun with the rental car. Also just to make it clear. My daily driver car doesn’t even reach 90mph. Due to having another car that was a 1.6L I got carried away. It’s simple as that.
