I got it just now - Also v tempted to use the 25% off coupon (look in your account) to get Red Dead Redemption 2 for £13.60 !

eta RDR2 shows as unavailable via the Epic Games Launcher but via the website works fine.

Make it so. smile

I recently upgraded my 2GB SATA SSD to a 2GB NVMe and my 4GB SSHD (not a typo) to an 8GB SATA SSD

The 2GB SATA SSD has been relegated to a transfer drive.

Some sort of screwup on Epic's end ... looks like they put up the Director's Cut for free initially by mistake, then dropped it back down to standard edition.

Seems to have caused a lot of confusion (store was inaccessible for a while) and taken the shine slightly off an excellent giveaway (the DC doesn't really offer much extra gaming-wise, just some nice add-ons and bonus bits).

Had it on Steam anyway (actually, had upgraded to Directors Cut there) but claimed it anyway. Why not? You never know when it might be handy to have the game on a different store.

If you haven't got it, well worth getting in and trying it on Epic. The game seems to be pretty marmite so if you turn out to hate it, no money wasted. I really liked it though, grabbed me a lot more than the MGS games.

I read a review saying that the Director's Cut feels like a different game.

Anyway, I too experienced that issue. Initially the link took me to Director's Cut which was merely 40% off (£21-odd) but if I searched for the game I got the free version, but the 'get' failed and actually logged me out. Then a little later the link went to the right place but the 'get' still failed. Killing the Epic Launcher in Task Manager and then trying again finally worked.

I am very early on in the game. I got rather annoyed to be told that the journey to the Incinerator had to be made on foot but half of it was on roads. Could have given me a lift that far, or at the very least a hand cart!

It's all a bit "WTF?" and I mean in general premise not just that annoyance.

I just finished the Director's Cut version, having completed the original in 2020. It really isn't very different at all.

I loved it. Thus playing it twice. It's flawed, sure, but it's brilliant too.

Today's freebie is Severed Steel. a "stylish single-player FPS featuring a fluid stunt system, destructible voxel environments, loads of bullet time, a unique one-armed protagonist, and a dark electronic soundtrack"

Looked like an instant migraine to me!

Today's is a fantasy RPG. As I still haven't started Witcher3, I passed.

Dishonored - Definitive Edition right now.

One of my favourite FPS games, mostly for the aesthetic and storytelling.

I also see that Kerbal Space Program will be free 5th-12th Jan so I'll definitely be getting that. Not my kind of game so never sunk any money into it but will give it a go.

Are you, like me, constantly getting errors about the servers being unavailable and that it is switching to Offline mode?

Apparently the servers are totally overloaded right now due to how many people picked the game up for free.

I really enjoyed Death Stranding until the combat started to creep in. I think it should have been optional or nerfable somehow. Perhaps it is.

Yep, I haven't been able to get online yet, I read the same issue on a few sites, they probably scaled down the servers as the game got older so weren't prepared for this sudden influx.

I'm not too fussed, it's an been enjoyable game regardless

yes It is the biggest flaw. I didn't want another shooter, and Sam is no Doomguy. You can get KO'd faster than you can turn around and successfully detach your carrier!

The best bits are triumphing over those unseen threats. After hours of adversity you crest a ridge, you see your destination. A Low Roar track starts, you descend lazily in a wide shot. Maybe the sun comes out. It's like being in your own movie.
