Grampian Automobile Club are holding a 2 day hillclimb event on 25th & 26th of May at Fintray and are looking for volunteers to act as marshalls. Experienced or novices are very welcome. New marshalls will be paired with an experienced person. Good way to see the action on track as you get closer. £10 per day and lunch provided. Also good way of catching some photos.

That's expensive. You'd be cheaper just paying to get in as a spectator surely. wink

Seem to mind catching some "flack" when catching some photies when I was marshalling. There was a fair old thread as I mind, between those who didn't mind a marshall taking photos, and those who believed it impacted upon his readiness to react to a situation. I'd think Kiltie's probably the person to give a realistic opinion on this.
PS, You goin' to Kames this weekend? If no, we'll see you on the hill.

Aye, rings a bell; I'll have a look. There's been a lot of water under the bridge since though. It'll be interesting if my opinion has changed.

In my opinion if marshalls are in pairs and one wants to take a few photos, so long as his/her parner is fully focused then I see no harm in it provided the one with the camera drops the camera and assists if there is an incident.
Not going to Kames this weekend so see you at Fintray.

A fiver Eric, a fiver. That's what we got then for marshalling. Now it's a TENNER! Maybe they all work for RBS through the week. Nae wonder the country's goin' to the dogs.
Damn. No I really don't mean that seriously, and I'm sure our marshalls next weekend will execute their duties with the usual enthusiasm and humour.

It's a while since I have marshalled, we never ever got paid or expected it either and I had to cycle out there too

I was surprised to find back then that you actually got paid for it. Had always thought that it was a purely voluntary/enthusiasm thing and was really quite embarrassed to be handed money the first time I marshaled. The free lunch thing is fine, quite acceptable . I understand the problems of trying to attract enough people to marshal but I must say that I've always been a wee bit uncomfortable with the cash bit.

Entry now closed with a good mixture of saloon cars, sports cars and single seater race cars. Come along and see some high speed action.

No, I'm making the point that the last time I drove Fintray (on that fateful day) - I weighed approximately 68kg - a 34% increase. frown

Oh well, maybe the car will be a bit more settled around the hairpin. wink

Target time is current weight divided by 3.25 wink

I found it this morning! ... so I'll try it on in a bit.

It would appear, from looking in the bag, that I bought a balaclava and a pair of gloves at the same time - happy days! smile
