City Centre Pollution Check
Discussion
How about a phone call then? The worst they can say is that computer says no. They do have an 'Old Timer' exemption (I hate that expression), but I doubt the Lotus would qualify, it might though.
It's a bit much they still charge you the fee if you can't comply and they can't issue a pass, are you sure that's the case? I would have expected an e-mail to say no can do, and no fee debited.
What's the fine if you get nicked? and would they bother enforcing it anyway on a foreign car that can't comply?

Old Timer kicks in at 30 years. Locally it's designated by a number plate with "07" or "H" and mine is on a UK "H" plate - maybe some of those dodgy German look plates might be the answer ?
The fine is 40 Euro.
I reckon I'll drop them a line with some explanations & scans and see what happens.

Out of interest I have been going in and out of Berlin centre for s very long time with a british plated car and have never received a ticket or questioned about not having a green sticker on my windscreen, the German authorities have just stated that the whole system has been a giagantic failure having no effect on pollution whatsoever.

Also noticed cars with two stickers! E.g. a yellow and green. I guess in this case the green is the new one and the owner did not remove the old yellow, I also guess they had some modification done to clean up the car's fine dust emissions (fitted an aftermarket DPF??)
Since January this year, only greens are allowed here in Frankfurt. I've still seen a fair few yellows driving around and frankly I do feel sorry for the owners of these perfectly good cars as if it were me I would feel very peeved indeed.
Hi all.
This thread's been going a while.
I'm looking to get a green sticker for my vehicle. I seem to be coming across no end of sites that want 40-50 euros for the pleasure, but I'm sure that's far too much, whereas the "Berlin" one only seems to want 6 euros. https://www.berlin.de/labo/mobilitaet/kfz-zulassun...
Stupid question I'm sure, but if I buy the sticker from Berlin does it apply throughout Germany, wherever required?
Just fyi, the vehicle is a motorhome, under 3.5 tonnes, Euro 6 etc, so I think it should be the same prices as for a car.
TIA

As long as you apply to the KFZ-Zulassungsstelle there should only be a minimal charge. Anyone charging 40-50€ is a company and NOT the correct place. I'd advise going through the berlin.de site as this is definitely the/a correct one.
AND YES, applied for and issued in, Berlin.... it IS OK for all of Germany...

I'm sure I've read that they can't be sold for more than the official price, the company's selling them for large sums are registered as currency exchanges and so the rip off is in the rate. It's the same as the motorway vignettes with the booths at the borders selling them for a high price when there will be a machine somewhere nearby selling them for a few euros.
