TVR Season Opener - 2014 Burghley House --
Discussion
Burghley Horse Power - Burghley House
TVRCC season opener 13th April 2014 Burghley House.
We are pleased to announce the TVRCC annual season opener event for 2014 will be held at Burghley House near Stamford in Lincolnshire. This event replaces the usual opener held at Chatsworth House.
Despite engaging with Chatsworth early in 2013, they were unable to offer us any dates in April, May or early June due to Easter and other commitments. The July date offered clashed with several other mainstream events and obviously is too late to be the season opener the event has become.
Burghley House is situated just 5 minutes from the A1 this is a perfect location centrally situated for easy access. Burghley house offers something for all the family to enjoy. From the Elizabethan house, the contemporary sculpture garden and the garden of surprises , Burghley has so much to offer. Home of the famous Burghley Horse Trials, we are pleased to say that the only horse power in evidence on 13th April will be TVR although we will be sharing the event with a fine food market hosted in the stables courtyard so no TVR driver will go hungry on the day! There will be the Club shop and also a variety of TVR related trade stands for you to pick up those car goodies.
There will be a run out or two on Saturday 12th for those of you that enjoy the country drive out. Additionally Burghley are offering us a special club rate for entrance into the house of 2 for 1 with your club ticket receipt. This event will cost just £5.00 per car payable on the gate where you will receive your 2 for 1 voucher.
This stately home plays host to a number of car clubs so let’s show them that TVRCC have a true British spirit and we can prove to be the one they want to invite back.

Surely they can get their act together early for the year after and book Chatsworth again ? Or is Chatsworth dead and buried now the tvrcc has taken over ?
It's nothing to do with the TVRCC having taken over. Chatsworth originally offered us a date in April but then realised it was Easter and they reserve the Easter period for their own events, so the offer was withdrawn. The earlier date offered was early February which is too early so July 6th it was, which clashes with CLM, the British GP and I'm sure many other local regions' activities.
TBH - would be nice to have a change once in a while. Chatsworth is a nice place, but gets boring after a couple of visits. Not just my opinion either. Quite a few people have expressed the same to me over the years.
Nothing wrong with having a little variety and change once every so often and BH sounds a great event to me.
I'd be happy to give Chatsworth a break for a year or two and then go back to it. May be have more of a rotation with other great estates. More interesting for us and other halves as well.

Fantastic news David, and great to be able to get this in the diary with plenty of notice.
I like Chatsworth but I do very much welcome a change, as nice as Chatsworth is it does get a little boring going to the same place every year. Like Alex said it would be good vary the season opener and have various estates on rotation.
I look forward to the season opener as although I continue to take the Tiv out to local meets throughout winter I do miss the bigger national events. The season opener is a great chance to crack the Tiv out for a long run and catch up with all the fellow owners I have not seen for a number of cold winter months.
It would be nice to see some traders and a rolling road to spice things up a bit.
See you there

Great news.... the traders always add value to TVR events.... what about a rolling road? A rolling road is always a great crowd puller and a chance to hear those glorious engines in action. Not to mention the willy waving potential for our Chim friends with BHP figures in their forum names

Plans for the "Rutland Rumble" are already underway
Never bothered with the Chatsworth Saturday run, but if we've got the "main man" organizing the run next year it would be rude not to Personally I welcome a change of venue, it was becoming monotonous, and I've not been going that many years. Exactly same format/layout (with the exception of "the wet one").
Guess there are those who return year after year to the same resort and hotel while others, no matter how good the holiday was, like to try somewhere different (and, who knows, might be even better)!

TBH as I've said elsewhere I personally don't think an RR is appropriate for the location. It's different at events like the Griff Growl or BBWF but remember Burghley is a place like Chatsworth were a good number of the visitors are there to take in the peace and quiet of the location. I overheard, more than once, comments at Chatsworth about 'noisy cars' so adding a RR would be a step too far I'd suggest.A rolling road is always a great crowd puller and a chance to hear those glorious engines in action. Just a thought, Dave. Perhaps, could have something like it on the Saturday perhaps?
Problem is finding a suitable location do to it and an RR supplier in the area.
Perhaps Lester's son-in-law? They are reasonably local and have experience with TVRs (Hilton and Moss open-day)...
Unless anyone else knows someone...

Ok, did a few checks, no one in an easy range that I would be happy using and no one seems to be expressing a great interest here in a RR event, so I'm bowing out.
Austec or Powers Performance (Dom) would probably be your best bet, but a bit far.
Someone wants to organise it, feel free.
Cheers.
