Democracy, got to just love it.
“democracy is the worst form of government – except for all the others that have been tried.”

Hopefully a massive wake up call for the established parties (especially Labour), and not a rallying call for those feeling disillusioned with Westminster.

Ah

You didn't recall correctly. He said Israeli free zone.

Thanks though
I think if you were an Israeli living in Bradford the result would be the same; chilling.

To use one of Galloway’s own often used rhetorical flourishes, in this case it is a distinction without a difference.

We can safely say that Galloway wouldn't be driving any Arab Israelis (20pc of the population) out of Bradford, only the Jewish ones.

People will trip over themselves to lol at Starmer cocking up in Rochdale. In doing so, they have to overlook what Galloway is. In the short term, he'll do what he always does, push his own interests with his considerable rhetorical power & act as a conduit for the discontented left. Probably worth thinking about that in the few months he'll be back in Parliament.

Galloway is a tt. That should always be remembered. A grubby, self serving man who invariably pushes division in his own service.

I think it’s pretty healthy for the established order to get a reminder occasionally that they’re not installed as of right.

Galloway is a conviction politician of the old order, articulate, and unafraid to get stuck in if he sees an opening. If all he does is increase the turnout at the GE, that will be good. Look forward to seeing him on QT

Hearing Galloway compare himself to Cristiano Ronaldo was a surreal start to the day but they do share a huge amount of love for themselves I suppose.

Well the people of Bradford West were none too enamoured with his ‘representation’ when he was elected there in 2012.
He didn’t start off on a good foot when he tweeted about winning ‘Blackburn’ then claimed his twitter had been hacked
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/george-gallo...

They soon enough voted him out when they realised he no interest in anything other than using his constituency as a platform for his personal views.

He won’t change.

I'm not sure you've been following his recent career. He just says whatever obscene nonsense will get him money (Russia Today) or elected (Racism).

He really isn’t.

He’s the left equivalent of Farage. Skilled as spotting division and exploiting it, and at winning election but unable to defend them when people see that once again he doesn’t represent their needs, only his own.

He’s a huckster. A grifter. And like Farage he is always found out.

Galloway is an opportunist. The election is also extraordinarily unusual. A god forsaken Greater Manchester satellite town with a history of a long-term Labour MP who abused children, grooming gangs who did same. Another Labour MP kicked out for apparently sexting a 17 year old girl who asked him for a summer job (arguably inappropriate but not illegal). It's bizarre.

Galloway refused to do R4 this morning but Chris Williamson went on in his place. Refused to condemn the Oct 7th attack. Refused distance himself from Nick Griffen.

I'd like to say the mask has slipped, but it hasn't even slipped, there never was a mask.

Unfortunately this result will of course drive the racists in their narrative re the political landscape.
Let's be honest, different messages playing on the interests of different audiences is exactly how social media campaigns operate and is said to have been heavily used in the Brexit referendum with Cambridge Analytica etc in a way way more sophisticated and targeted way. A couple of letter variants on a leaflet drop seems quaintly old fashioned but not in the least odd.

Imagine another politician declaring their constituency to be a Pakistani free zone

I heard that too, Williamson wasted no time getting into the big issues facing Rochdale eh.

Cyril Smith was a Liberal MP.
