The national press is in it to make money. Issues with Rochdale's church roof fund and failed promises of the local MP are not going to pique the national interest. But salubrious BS, topics that further inflame/polarize public opinion, and/or barbed jabs (or, in Galloways case, outright derision/visceral hatred) aimed at the Govt by a constituency MP is grist for the mill.
Which is sort of my point It would be easy to expose him if they put the effort in. Someone on here last week said he was an old fashiojned conviction politician, so clearly it is needed.

He’s talking through his arse. Labour didn’t field a candidate in Rochdale.
Would be funny AF though.

Talking from an 'I don't really care' perspective...I'm quite enjoying Galloway's news appearances.
UK Politics has become a bit of a joke over recent years...sometimes it's good to have a shake up. And no, that doesn't mean I agree with his politics...at all!
Indeed, he's a disrupter.

I do think that Galloway’s success will have got a lot of cogs whirring in several heads. From within Galloway’s own ‘party’ and beyond.

I too would like one of the networks to scrutinise his actual performance. He talks a good game, but isn't effectively held to account for his bullst.

Agreed - it's a shame, but the press probably feel they can monetize his output, so why kill the goose?

I think he's the complete opposite of a conviction politician. An "anti-imperialist" who has shilled for assorted despots/totalitarian regimes is not remotely "anti-imperialist". I'm not even sure what his convictions are supposed to be, other than being a thorn in the side of both main parties whilst preening for any camera nearby.

Galloway is and always has been in politics for Galloway. He's looking forward to getting as much airtime for Galloway Ltd. The concerns of the people he has just been voted in to serve are of no interest to him. As history has shown.

Keeping the paymasters at Russia Today happy. He was also happy to take money from Press TV, aka Ayatollahvision.

In many cases Julian I~ find myself nodding at you posts.
This is certainly one of them. I am also not happy that this pussycat wants to go after Angela's seat. I am sure that many people have thought about attempting this over the years to go after her when it is unlikely he can get anyone to stand for his party unless they have serious issues is ludicrous.

I'm surprised that 3 Labour MPs want to risk their seats given what a strong lead Labour has. Surely better to wait until AFTER the election and then switch?

Some previously seats could be at risk if Galloway turns up and takes a large part of the the Muslim vote away or something happens in the Middle East and Starmer doesn't completely back whoever is against Israel that week.

It slipped out of the news very quietly but a bunch of councillors resigned a few weeks ago plus the more public resignations in November (Jess Phillips) and the bother with the speaker so there is a lot of unrest behind the scenes

Good to see an up and coming politician who is well prepped for his interview and on top of his brief.

Not heard a peep from him. He will be out at the GE anyway when the non-fundamentalists have a candidate to vote for.
