A French soldier on patrol in Paris has been stabbed in the throat by a man believed to be of North-African origin.

The soldier was injured during the attack but will survive, said a military spokesman.

French daily Le Parisien cited police sources as saying the suspected attacker was a bearded man, about 30-years-old and was wearing an Arab-style garment under his jacket.

He fled the scene and is being sought by police.

The soldier was patrolling the business area of La Defense as part of France's Vigipirate anti-terrorist surveillance plan.

The stabbing comes just days after a British soldier was hacked to death on a London street in broad daylight in a suspected terrorist attack that has raised fears of potential copycat strikes.

However, there was no immediate confirmation of any link to the France attack.

Be interesting to see the French response, there's already a lot of anti-arab problems out there frown

Correct. What we see in the UK, even in light of recent events, is miniscule compared to the islamic question in France. Not to make light of the death of Drummer Rigby, of course.

Marseilles, for example, is by and large, a no-go area for non-muslims in many of its districts. In Germany people of Turkish descent have a majority foothold in many cities and the riots in Sweden are now gaining momentum.

I visited paris a couple of years ago, went in by train to the Arc de Triumph and walked down the Champs Elysees, on the way back in the evening we walked back up past the stations and eventually got into a train past the crowds of people thronging the streets.

That evening the ethnic mix in these crowds was about 95% african. I'm not sure why they all wanted to live in paris, a expensive town away from the far nicer countryside but they obviously did!

Looks like the left wing habit of being tolerant of the intolerant is finally going tits up - just as the majority of PH knew it would.
But what to do know? Crack down hard and light the podwer keg or carry on surrendering...

As the temperatures get sttier here perhaps we should move to the rapidly emptying african subcontinent?

We might even get a May without snow then.

I would hazard a guess that it is easier for them to ply their trade in the city. Not to many rich pickings in the country.

That's the question right at the top of every European leaders list right now.

We've been walking on eggshells for along time now, but now I fear we may be running out of eggs.

Woolwich was bad enough, and now we have Paris. And I was stunned to see the recent footage from Stockholm. Perhaps naively, I thought Sweden had been lucky and managed to separate itself from that sort of situation.

It might be top of a list, if that list is 'how do we pretend everything is fine and there are no problems'. We are talking about the very people that created the problem in the first place.

I's a lot better since the eighties. The walk down Rue St Denis from the Gare de Nord to the Isle de France via Chatelet is a good snapshot of the city I think.

Walked down there in 1989 and there had to be a prostitute standing about every three feet, and this was mid afternoon on a Sunday. One still sticks in my mind with that filthy look on her face. hehe

I like it. We could become the majority there.

When I drove through Paris last December I saw some chantie towns that had sprung up on the side of the roads. Was unaware France had such a problem.

They were former millionaires who had just paid their new tax bill.

Pat Condells thoughts on Sweden from back in 2010. It doesn't sound a whole lot different to the UK today.

these are armed and uniformed soldiers on the streets of Paris, what if this attacker had managed to take his rifle?
