There was a programme on TV last week, C5 I think, called mega mansions, about this prize knobber of an estate agent who sells properties like this, him and his brother went and valued this, to me they were utter bell ends, the sort that don’t wear socks, lol. I’d bet my house he had been on the apprentice at some point.
Been in Africa shooting tigers rather than the apprentice.

Build a nice external garage and sort the horrendous interior and it’s the dream home for me.

The exterior and location is amazing
This has been for sale for years. They keep putting the price up though laugh

I’d have that in a heart beat if I could afford it as a second home.
I'd have it as a first home.... if I could find somewhere for the kids to live... and something to pay the bills with.

Gorgeous location.
It really is a lovely area. I really like the simplicity of the design and the tranquil interior.

Either we've had it on here before or the same interior designer has been employed to substitute another owner's lack of ideas for their 'unique' blend of hormonal 14-year-old boy meets toddler décor.

EDIT: Good God, the owners did it. Jesus.

Interesting project with some interesting history.

Hewell Grange.

‘After the Second World War, the third earl sold the Hewell estate to the Crown and it was redeveloped as a prison. The mansion was used to house young offenders, and later low-risk prisoners, while adult prisons were built in the grounds.’

So I think I put this on here when it was on the market a couple of years back

https://www.onthemarket.com/details/7595760/

Local to me, a lovely William and Mary house, family owned for many decades it was a little run down but nothing too major, came with various other buildings and a fair amount of land.
Sold after the death of the owner in 2019 for £3.2m I seem to recall.

This was Saturday

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-60...

Driving home from work yesterday, the roof has now completely fallen in and I think that the second floor has gone too, fairly sure i could see the remains of the roof through the ground floor windows.

I hope it's insured and is rebuilt, but alas it's pawn no more :-(
Holy moly, my friends bought this house, I was there last August!

It's a major renovation project, there's a tree growing into the sitting room, the kitchen is from the 60's and the pump for the pool is under a hedge, just a hedge.

Maybe you could find out what happened, I know the scaffolding was all over the house prior to the fire so I'm guessing that there were issues with the roof that they were having addressed and something went badly wrong.

Either way it's a real shame, I've driven past it twice a day for many years and apart from the slightly awkward location of the vehicle access I've always loved it.

Each to their own - I love the interior. Also like the building, but the upkeep will be painful

Got the SP. The owners were away skiing and their parents (who live in the annex) phoned them to say the fire alarm was going off. The rest is as they say, history. Fire started in the roof. Completely gutted so a large restoration job!

Yes, it’s been posted on here a while ago. Unsurprisingly, it was widely ridiculed then. Bloody awful.

Couple of current faves:

Weird to have 5acres+ & be so overlooked but I guess the problem with a barn conversion is a high chance you're either in a) the middle of nowhere, or b) the middle of a farmyard.

https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/120222761#/...

Would need to separate the kitchen/diner from the sitting room somehow, as I like to keep me, my cooking & my music separate from Mrs F, her books & the TV

Nice but I’m not sure about the flue for the wood burner running up through the bedroom right beside the bed - surely a more elegant solution could have been considered?

Keeps the room/house warmer. But yeah, it looks a mess.

Would need to do something about that caravan park to the north, and whatever those buildings are to the south.

So I guess that would cost the same as the asking price.

Still would though!
Caravan park isn’t ideal but you wouldn’t never hear it and have enough trees to hide it, the surrounding areas and the town of Callander are fantastic though basicly the start of the highlands on your doorstep and a few wonderful lochs too.

Oh really! It’s needs a bit of work imo, putting the price up isn’t going to help

Tbh it’s not as much work as people think to change, biggest job would probably be the black kitchen, everything else seems to be furniture and decoration work.
