It’s a lovely house might have to change some of the flooring though.

Agree. Would tone down the wood generally but the location is pretty stunning.

So I think I put this on here when it was on the market a couple of years back

https://www.onthemarket.com/details/7595760/

Local to me, a lovely William and Mary house, family owned for many decades it was a little run down but nothing too major, came with various other buildings and a fair amount of land.
Sold after the death of the owner in 2019 for £3.2m I seem to recall.

This was Saturday

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-60...

Driving home from work yesterday, the roof has now completely fallen in and I think that the second floor has gone too, fairly sure i could see the remains of the roof through the ground floor windows.

I hope it's insured and is rebuilt, but alas it's pawn no more :-(
Holy moly, my friends bought this house, I was there last August!

It's a major renovation project, there's a tree growing into the sitting room, the kitchen is from the 60's and the pump for the pool is under a hedge, just a hedge.
Maybe you could find out what happened, I know the scaffolding was all over the house prior to the fire so I'm guessing that there were issues with the roof that they were having addressed and something went badly wrong.

Either way it's a real shame, I've driven past it twice a day for many years and apart from the slightly awkward location of the vehicle access I've always loved it.
Got the SP. The owners were away skiing and their parents (who live in the annex) phoned them to say the fire alarm was going off. The rest is as they say, history. Fire started in the roof. Completely gutted so a large restoration job!
That's a shame, I too drove past at the weekend and it was dreadful to see.

Hopefully the insurance will come good and get it all sorted.

That was my first reaction. Lovely house, nice interior, and then you see some of the flooring eek
The lounge is especially bad.

I used to live near here (in a normal house)

All the usual MTV cribs accoutrements but private golf course is nice. I know exactly where it is, lovely location. London postcode, tube station is less than a mile away

Hideous doesn’t get close to how awful that is. Well done for finding it OP, you don’t see them quite that bad any more.

I quite like it, but not at that price. Cinema room pretty horrid, but if you've got 20mil A few 100 thousand more would change the decor.

this ^^^ There are lots of bits on there which are very nice, then there are those which are (shall we say) suffering from a deficiency of taste

I think Mike Ashley's house is further down the road. It's much bigger with a better view. No golf course though

I claim it as mine for the people of Ukraine.

I will require donations to redo the decor, I'll ping out the link for the gofundme.

Nice but I’m not sure about the flue for the wood burner running up through the bedroom right beside the bed - surely a more elegant solution could have been considered?
Keeps the room/house warmer. But yeah, it looks a mess.
Keep the dentures warmed, primed & ready to go? Obvious really...

According to this, the house for sale was owned by Mrs Ashley after they were divorced.
