Travel insurance claim

We are due to go on holiday in a few weeks.

Due to illness this is unlikely to happen and expect a doctors note to the effect of cannot fly.

Plan to claim on travel insurance as would be expected.

Holiday is not cancelable due to closeness of flight date.

So assuming I claim off insurance and my monies back can I sell/gift the holiday to family with them paying the name change fee?
