Out of intrest, Does anyone know how beer stands up against coke (or ginger beer for plotloss and I), Orange juice and Ribena etc in terms of calorific content or chemicals..
Pint of Coke = ~200
Pint of Light Lager = ~250
Pint of Heavy Beer ie Guiness can be up to 350 or 400.
Pure orange juice is more than you'd think at about ~150 a pint.
Red wine for comparison is less than that, around ~120.

I like a beer of an evening (or rather a few glasses of Vino).
Every few weeks I don't drink all week just to be sure I am not getting into a very bad habit, but find fizzy pop is a good substitute so it is obviously something to occupy me rather than numb the pain of the ostrich feather.
And i definitely want a glass after a long day on the road.

You've got a problem if you crave the feeling of being pissed rather than the drink itself.
It's not the beer that's addictive, it's the fun you have on the beer that's addictive. If three beers made me feel good, then ten would make me feel great. And twenty would make me wonderful. Unfortunatly I used to get a little mixed up, and even when totally paralytic I was convinced more beer, or even spirits would make things better still.
I finally gave up and became teetotal some 12 years ago. Never regretted it for a second.
Alchohol free beer you say? No thanks.
I mean the taste is just not like real beer is it?
Used to drink Kaliber when at functions and listed to do the driving but I found that it had a 'gummy' effect on my insides and I went back to shandy.
However, I do enjoy a glass of Ginger Beer - Especially the one that Idris make. Quite paletable and could be more so if they made it less gassy.
Slightly off topic, I find that I tend to drink Lager at home but beer in pubs. Stems from my thinking that beers and cans do not go together.
