Overall satisfied with the year, finished above Man U, broke the club record for PL goals, decent possibility of getting some European football as well.

A couple of incredible highs (PSG)!, the lows were injuries around Christmas.

If we'd done 7th last year and 4th this, Eddie would be being given the keys to the city already!
Those PSG highlights still bring a grin to my face.

Yeah, I watch the full "first 21 minutes" version. That and the Spurs reaction reels.

Well the end of a fascinating season.
And what a great team the Toon are when you look at the players we've got and who all appear to want to play for the Toon and want to play together (mostly) as a team.
Nick Pope is back and does seem confident despite the injury. The defence seems to be a bit chaotic but it just needs time to adjust, Schar & Burn, Tino & Lewis. Midfield we've got Bruno (hopefully) Big Joe, Anderson is coming on a treat, Willock (is he still around??), and up front there's Barnes, Gordon, Murphy (often underrated) Isak, (all 4 very capable of scoring goals as well as providing).
There's talk of new strikers, new midfield, new defence, new goalie etc but they'd have to be very very good to get a game with the squad we have.
And I haven't even included Trips, Miggy, Dubs etc.
I can see a few wanting away, either to actually play football rather than keep a bench warm or for the cash, Dubs, Dummitt, Targett, Wilson etc and fair play to them if they want to go. But looking at keeping a bench warm, would the likes of Ramsdale actually want to come and be second fiddle at St James'. The same could be said about a few other names linked to the Toon too.
Roll on August...

Considering the chaotic season when it comes to injuries we have had I think we have done very well, I think we could have again finished 3 - 4 if not for those nasty injuries.

Lots of teams have struggled with injuries this season.

There’s no point debating who’s had the worst injury crisis, but we have definitely never had anything near this bad before. I think we all suspect it’s beyond bad luck and down to intensity of play, squad size, lack of rotation (no choice) rushed back from injury and our new medical team potentially.

But I think questions need to be asked about the new amount of extra time. All teams seem to be having record injury problems.

There are probably a range of issues combining, but games are easily all 100mins now, with the last 10 mins pretty frantic.

Only Chelsea have suffered more injuries this season and have had more games missed through injury than Newcastle. They have spent billions to build their squad and we're not allowed to so all in all, I'd say that we have suffered a lot more than most on the injury front.

yes

Next season going to be even more of a challenge as all of the top players aren't getting much of a break this summer.

As above, numerous teams in the mix with significant number of injuries and matches missed. No surprise to see Arsenal so low and City not even make the list..

Again, Chelsea, Manchester United, Spurs and Liverpool have had also suffered with injuries, the difference is that they have already built up the revenue and squads to be able to cope with them. I still believe our 7th finish is a remarkable effort given the injuries we've had. We don't have the cover like the big 6 clubs do.

Horrendous season for injuries but I think Eddie has done a good job with what we've had at times. When you take out key players - Isak, Wilson, Botman, Big Joe, Pope then unless you have sufficient quality in their replacement you're bound to suffer. Our squad needs another 4 or 5 quality additions, just to give us more resilience. This is so the likes of Richie, Dummett, White, Alex Murphy, Gillespie etc aren't our alternative options to bench fill/change a game. Can't wait to see Sandro back, hopefully Willock fully fit. We need another CB, RW, ST as a priority.

Not just the amount/duration of injuries though is it? It’s the players it’s happened to- not to mention losing our big signing for the year for other issues.

Our squad hasn’t got the depth of others, so to lose Wilson, Joelinton, Miggy, Wilson, Botman, Trippier & Pope as well as Tonali? That’s 7 of our starting 11 from last year without close to the same quality on the bench.

And let’s not mention the couple of rotten VAR penalties that cost us here or there…

In that context a remarkable season for me. Not worried about playing anyone above us other than City & the Arse now. Can give them all a good going over.

Best stick ‘em on a plane now and play two meaningless friendlies in Australia then.

Platinum club question…

I’m off to see the England France ladies game next Friday and the tickets state “platinum club entrance.” I’ll be checking with the club, but does anyone know if this implies access to a bar and / or being able to sit down for food before / during / after the game.

If it's like the league games, then yes. Bar (with carpets!), padded seats. Food available but just ropey fast food (burgers, hot dogs etc).

Thanks. It’s my wife’s first ever game, and my little boy’s first ever visit to St James’s, so even just being able to go in a bit early and have him able to have a burger will be nice.

I found it a little quiet when I went earlier this season but the bar access was handy!

I wouldn't try for it again but just my luck it was the one I won in the lottery!

That said, it's an excellent view!
