Anything better than a twin cab pick up?

Time to replace a twin cab pick up, but what with?
Main duties are lugging around diggers and plant, throwing tools in the back, occasionally using as a family vehicle (school drop off or taking bikes etc to the woods).
Problem is of course, trying to run it through the books of a limited company (construction).
An Ineos Grenadier really appeals but it grates that my company will use and abuse it but I’ll pay for the upkeep out of my own pocket.
A Defender Hard Top might look the part but only has three seats and cost something like £70k!
A standard defender ran as a company car means loads on BIK, although better than a Grenadier if I went PHEV version).
I’d really rather not go down the dedicated van and second car route if possible but I can’t see a whole lot of options.

^^This. It's exactly what a pickup is made for.About the minus I'd want to get away with in a Land Rover is currently £71k (less the VAT) plus another £3k for the rear seat conversion.

Sorry - I read your OP as "occasional" use. I have a Hilux which gets used pretty much like yours does, but I wouldn't want to use it regularly as a family car, or it to be my only vehicle. Have they stopped making the Amarok?sunbeam alpine said:

Yep, same, got a friend with the 3.2 that had a new engine under warranty (oil pressure issue?) and then needed another at 4 years old.I understand the irony of complaining about reliability whilst posting about a possible Land Rover purchase!
The new Amarok looks epic, but I’m not sure which oily bits are Ford and which are VW.

Have regretted selling our 3 litre auto Hilux many times when we no longer needed its carrying capacity, it drove car like and with the fixed hardtop giving a little more unladen weight over the back had perfectly acceptable ride and handling, albeit tyre choice makes all the difference to how a pick up handles and rides as is typical for any mainly RWD vehicle.
I'd have another auto Hilux if i needed a dual purpose vehicle, don't have the ticking time bomb mechanical issues of some other brands, decent resale value at any age.

Pick up , just had yet another Hilux maybe not the best to drive but 100% no nonsense , looked at the Ranger nice but everything Ford commercial I’ve had recently has been trouble and the dealers are swamped with problems, looked at Isuzu look great but only available with the tiny engine and the reliability around DPF’s seems dubious also the dealers seem to have an “arrangement with each other “ shall we say !! Or they did when I was looking at a truck !!
