I'm with Ovo - 7p per kWh for car charging overnight with their Charge Anytime and the rest of my electricity is 29.12p per kWh (both inc. VAT)
Mind if I ask why you haven’t moved to a different tariff? This is the next thing for us to look into.
And having spoken to our sales guy this week, the second stop sale issue should be rectified the first week of December. So hopefully be able to collect middle of the month.I think you’re going to be really pleased with the E-Hybrid. I spoke to my OPC Sales exec a few days ago and he went on a Cayenne drive day and said that nearly everyone thought it was the pick of the range due its flexibility and performance combined and that Porsche GB expect it to be by far the strongest seller of the Cayenne range.
I haven’t looked in detail at an overnight tariff because I’ve only had the car two weeks but will start to look. A recent quick look seemed to suggest that there is a trade off for the cheap overnight rates with higher day rates? Any suggestions most welcome as we are quite high electricity consumers even without the E-Hybrid.

Good question! As a petrolhead and when in a life’s too short frame of mind, before I bought the E Hybrid I would have gone for the V8S which was what I put my deposit on at first. But I haven’t driven that car so can’t give a fair appraisal. The general consensus seems to be that it’s not as sonorous as I’d like (OPF etc like all new cars) and could have more low down grunt but I suspect that is in comparison to the hybrid. The sub 20 mpg would annoy me a bit too.
I think as a private buyer I’d drive the E-Hybrid, V8S and even the base V6 which has also had a power increase and is no slouch. A canny private buyer could get a nicely specced base V6 that will do late 20s mpg (I had the previous version) and save a fair chunk over the V8S and lower fuel costs. For similar money to the V8S you can get the E-Hybrid which IMO is a better day to day/town car.
Yesterday evening I did a 40mile 20+20 round trip in my E-Hybrid, all in E-Power mode until I was about 2 miles from home when the ICE kicked in but even then it used some E-Power at lower speeds on lighter throttle. I got home and charged last night. The car showed 99.9 MPG on the trip because it can’t display a higher number. Just checked and it cost me £6.70 at my 27.9p tariff which includes preheat for 30 minutes. £6.70 won’t quite buy you a gallon of petrol but if I assume it did you could say I’m getting the equivalent on 40 MPG on a cost basis and I’m not on any special energy tariff. In fact if I was on a cheap overnight tarrif and set a timer I could have charged for a third of that price. It’s hard to not see the attraction of the hybrid and let’s not forget it has 470 HP and is a very quick car when you want it to be.
Thanks for all your great posts on this subject. Certainly put our minds at rest that we made the right decision going for the eHybrid. Looks like it will fit our use case perfectly. Random question: our first Cayenne. What kind of tyres are they normally delivered on? Summer tyres or some kind of all season tyre? Just trying to work out if we are going to need a tyre swap after collection with living up here in the frozen north…
Pretty sure it's summer. If you spec a car on the config it shows the tyre labels. I think the 22's for example have P zeros as one of the tyres you might get
I contacted my OPC today (Reading) to learn that the Stop Sell on Cayenne Hybrids has been extended through into the new year, as a further fault have been found with the electrical systems. They have over 50 cars that are on hold as a result.
Whilst it was a software issue, I didn't mind so much, but now I'm starting to wonder how invasive the fix will be on the inverter system. Seems like 50 cars are going to need a re-work of various kinds. Hopefully they'll practice on their demonstrator cars first.
Does anyone have more details?

We are also waiting to take delivery of an EHybrid Coupe from Reading OPC. We received a generic email from my salesman at around 1930 last evening and was told that, like you, the car which has been at the dealership since September, will remain on stop util an unspecified date in January. We have been told that the latest software patch has not been delivered, despite being due for delivery last Monday (5 December), and not yet delivered. It would be good to hear from other Pistonhead members and to learn whether or not their vehicles have also been delayed. From following this thread it would seem that some OPC’s have been delivering cars whereas we have been told that OPC’s must not breach stop delivery instructions from Porsche GB or Germany as breaching these instructions could invalidate the vehicle warranty?

We've got Pirelli P Zeros on 21" RS Spyder wheels.Finding it impossible to find all season or winter tyres in the correct sizes for the 20” standard wheels.

A pal of mine had an appointment to collect his new Cayenne last week , he went up to collect it to be told at the dealership he couldn’t have it and might not get it till the new year. Not even a phone call to cancel the appointment.
That debacle happened after the salesman had sent him a photo of his car being delivered a few weeks ago then had to tell him he couldn’t take delivery of it because of software issues.
Furious is an understatement.

For those who’ve received their car, is it possible to disable speed limit alerts and lane departure warnings without them coming back on automatically?
No!! I found it incredible annoying. If you hold in the small button at the bottom of the cruise control stock it turns off lane control, but not permanently. I then programmed the steering wheel button to turn off the bloody annoying speed limit alert. I had a new Cayenne for 3 months while waiting on my 911 arriving, and I know it's petty, but the lane change is the single worst thing ever. DMC2 said:

Thought so. shame. Thanks for the tip re ways to disable - quicker than using the menu every time. This is bad on a Cayenne. Just wait til they bring it in on the 992 gen 2 :-|

I've done exactly the same. Its a shame ive had to use the steering wheel diamond button for that! Maybe they need to introduce a few of these buttons on their steering wheels to get rid of these annoyances!Gassing Station | Front Engined Porsches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
