Early Vantage SatNav Update
Discussion
Okay this has the potential to be extremely embarrassing. Having bought the update satnav disc for my 2007 V8V, I decided last night to pop it into the unit which I located in the upper LHS of the boot. Unfortunately despit poking and prodding I couldn't find a button to eject the existing disc. Can anyone tell me how you get the old disc out????
In fairness to myself I was trying to do a BBQ for the family at the same time so probably didn't look as closely as I should have but any advice would be appreciated. Cheers G

My handbook (07 MY) says...
1. Shut down the satellite navigation system
2. Open the hatch on the player. The disc will eject (the ignition must be on).
3. Insert new disc and close the hatch.
The screen goes black and 'Loading new program - please wait' is displayed at the bottom.
The entire procedure can take up to five minutes. Once programming is complete, the start screen is displayed.

Slide down the front of the unit and the disc ejects automatically?.
I tested it by putting in some addresses and then planned the route and it started the route. I am asumming because it started working, that the disk is ok and doing what it should be doing??
I take it that this is ok and how it should be working??

Me too...however, managed to sort it out. However, when I started my sat nav, it stated for about 2 seconds, can not read the disk...but then the sat nav started to work. There was no loading, or black screens etc, it just started to work.

If it's a DVD system (<2009 facelift) then it's reading from the disk so there's no loading as such. With >2009 (HDD system), it takes 3hrs+ for the 2 disks to download to the system (thankfully in updates incrementally).I tested it by putting in some addresses and then planned the route and it started the route. sweet! in the Youtube video description is a link to the guy who wrote the instructions (PDF link in his description). i used some small crimp pins and barrels to make connection break between the grey connectors. if you want the GPS on all the time, your button choices are better than mine, but i am pretty happy with my installation
Yes, I followed the same instructions - really useful. I removed the old screen and the drop-down tray, just to make a little more room.
The satnav is held in place with two strips of velcro so it can be removed for updating the map software etc.
I removed the back cover (the one with the springs) as every time the screen went down it wrenched the door out of its hinges. I don't know why, but it was easier to disconnect the springs as otherwise, I had to keep popping the panel off to refit the door. I'll take another look at some stage, but the most important thing is to fit a switch so that I can control whether it rises up or not. I've also got a Carplay screen on order from AliExpress - that would give me Waze if I fit it. I've also kept all the old components so it could be put back to original if need be. A fun little project and not that difficult to do. Worth it for the speed limit alarms anyway. It doesn't take much to break the limit and I'd like to keep my licence!
