F30 interior quality
Discussion
Tested drove a new 330d msport yesterday. Loved the engine and go, it is a real rocketship in sport driving mode.
However, am I the only one who thinks the trim looks, a bit, dare I say it, light and flimsy(no offence to other F30 owners)? I got back in my e92 325d sport and noticed how much more solid it felt, and the trim, all looked slightly higher quality than the F30. Presents me with a dilema as I liked the 330d in all other respects. It was just a bit of a disappointment inside.
I've not driven a F10, but how does that compare to the F30 in terms of interior quality?

I've test driven a F30 and own a F11. Now that I don't need to lug around two buggies I really fancy downsizing to the new F31, 330d too. However, like yourself, not only is the interior quality a concern, but the layout too. The 5 series is so simple, elegant and completely uncluttered which will age will, the plastics are so much better too. The only cheap looking plastic on the F11 is the lower B pillar, it's horrible compared to the E61 and E39's I've owned. The F30 interior seems closer to the 1 series rather than the 5 in terms of quality and design.
The E90 looks quite dated now, but the quality is probably better. I hate how BMW are moving towards more "fashionable" dash designs.
Would it put me off.... hmmm, not sure yet.
I totally agree with this: for a car that is significantly more expensive than the e90 I feel the quality and feel has reduced. I currently have an f10 and had an e90 lci before it. I find the f30 more of a Kia interior if I am honest which is a complete shame as the rest of the car is gorgeous.
I imagine some big improvements will come in place when they do the facelift.

I had an F30 320d loan car a few weeks ago and was really looking forward to trying it out. The F30 looks great.
Sadly I was hugely underwhelmed - the interior felt really rather cheap despite being asthetically quite pleasing. Most things I touched felt cheap and creaked. Very dissapointed, I really wanted the F30 to be a return to form but it seems only the F10 and above are getting close to where BMW used to be quality wise.

I echo the sentiments of others on here after having an F30 as a courtesy car the other month. Was really looking forward to it seeing as though my company kindly provide F11 530d M-Sports and was thinking the 3 series would be similar in its interior quality.
How wrong I was. Everything seemed cheap and the multi-media screen seemed like a total after thought although it seems to follow the latest trend of them being stuck on to the dash. Just felt very tacky and plasticy inside. I also didn't expect the bonnet to feel as big in the 3 series. Obviously the F11 5's feel huge but the 3's are meant to be small family cars and I wasn't expecting it to feel like a tank.
Total let down from a driving and nice place to be point of view. I would rather splash out a bit more on the 5 than a 3 if it were my own money.

That's a pity. Better or worse than the E90?Sadly I was hugely underwhelmed - the interior felt really rather cheap despite being asthetically quite pleasing. Most things I touched felt cheap and creaked.

Few manufacturers are making better cabins than BMW at the moment, and the 3 Series is right up there with the best in class. The materials are sumptuous, the fit and finish are flawless

I valeted a friends' F10 last weekend and was surprised the interior felt no better than my e46. I had to look twice to confirm if the steering wheel was, in fact, leather, as they managed to make it look and feel like cheap plastic.
I'd love to try this one out, personally, though

The interior of my F30 is superb and easily as good as any AUDI I have been in recently.
Top notch.
If it were 'Top notch' there would be zero room for improvement in the range topping 7 Series, so logically it's obviously not 'top notch'.Top notch.
Push the switchgear on your centre console for example - the one I had a few weeks ago creaked. This also suggests its not 'top notch'.

The lack of quality materials in the 5 touring was one of the deciding factors in plumbing for a E Class Estate recently for me. I could not believe how flimsy it was in direct comparison.
Odd, I've almost exclusively heard the opposite. Fox - it could have just been a duff...? Likewise I bet there are some E39s which creaked when new.
