That was such a thrilling race and the timing was very helpful as I could chill and watch it live for once! It was so thrilling that I called all the family in to come and watch -- they joined just as MM took the lead.
MM was fantastic, back to his predatory best, Acosta is a revelation who has such sublime control on the brakes and whose riding style and personal mannerisms are Rossi-esque (am I just projecting this?!) -- Maverick looks so tuned into the Aprilia, it's riding and handling beautifully.
Just how much this win meant to him too, was really touching and to have been the first rider to win a top class race with three different manufacturers is true excellence. What a season we're going to be in for.
Agree - if it’s possible to categorise him, I see Acosta as closer to Rossi than Marquez - a lot seems to be cerebral rather than physical / instinctive riding talent MM was fantastic, back to his predatory best, Acosta is a revelation who has such sublime control on the brakes and whose riding style and personal mannerisms are Rossi-esque (am I just projecting this?!) -- Maverick looks so tuned into the Aprilia, it's riding and handling beautifully.

Just to trigger others on the thread - you see that when Acosta overtakes (clean) vs Marquez - only one guy on the track with bits hanging off his fairing before he went down…
When Marquez hit the back of Martin's bike (final corner late lunge) the top front wing seemed to bend but didn't break that caught my attention at the time but I didn't see or recall contact around the front brake area with Martin's tyre, did he hit there too to start the brake problem? Don't have a recording to hand and there's no clip on YT.

I don't think Marc was to blame when he and Jack collided, but the attempt on Martin seemed desperate, he was so far back. If he's had technical problems in both races that piles pressure on Gresini. Acosta is easy to cheer for.
I said to my wife, I was expecting the first 4 to be Marc, Maverick, then either Pedro, Jorge or vice versa. Would have been a bang on prediction if Marc hadn't stacked it. It was an awesome race and I am very pleased for Maverick and Aprilia. Pedro and Gas Gas also awesome.
I thought the same as Chip Chap. I am sure Ducati won't, but in the meantime they are having points taken off them by Aprilia and GasGas, but if they upgrade Marc it'll make the factory ducati team look even more lacklustre, particularly with Jorge out racing them.
I've said it before, I reckon Marc and Acosta will end up on an MV Agusta dream team with Agostini 'as their mascot' and providing some support. It's Ducati's 100th anniversary year in 2026, what rider will they want and conversely, what riders will the competition want to deny them a victory?

I got the impression from his comments post race that he had the brake issue from the start. Had assumed his contact with Martin was partially as a result of that. Can be hard to tell with MM though!
The Miller clash was after the corner, with Miller running him out to the edge (as he's entitled to).

The TV commentary (Hodgson and the other guy) said that Marquez had lost a wing or part of a wing in the clashes - but I didn't 100pc see it.
Watching it with my son (age 11), he asked if Marc's phone came out of his pocket when he crashed!
Assume it was debris of some sort.
Yeah he lost a bit off the rear/side of the bike after he a Miller came together.Watching it with my son (age 11), he asked if Marc's phone came out of his pocket when he crashed!

Martin I think he got away with it.

Fantastic race. So happy to see MV win. He was so devastatingly fast all weekend, super impressive. If you're Fabio, that 8m (alleged) delta must go someway to make up for 1sec a lap speed differential and the lack of tasting any champagne for seasons to come.
I tend to believe MM93 when he says he had an issue, he's always been candid and straight up generally in his analysis of what's happened on track. Like him or loathe him, he doesn't tend to hide these things - I'm not niaive either, they're all only telling us so much.
Updating the '23 Ducati is an issue with Gresini not having enough techs on hand to support the updates the factory could give them, so not sure it's a Ducati issue, more an independent teams scale and resources issue. From what I've heard/read.

He was clearly having an issue getting the thing to stop as the race wore on......Another rider might have backed off and slipped back and just bagged some points.........

I've never been a fan-boy of any particular rider though, they've all got more talent in their little toe than I've ever had on a bike, so I just to all of them.
