My 92 4.3's got a relay mounted to (wait for it) the aluminium mouting bracket welded to the bottom of the swirl pot. This ingenious location has unsurprisingly led to the thing melting - although it must still work as it's connected to the otter switch (and the fans cut in...).
Does anyone else have one fitted to this 'hotspot' or is it a non-factory job? After all the car does have twin fans (aftermarket AFAIK).

I( haven't got one on my 92 4ltr, has it got a fan overide switch?

Not that I've discovered so far...
I'll change and relocate the relay. Can't believe even TVR would fit one there!

On my 500 the relay is in the fuse box with most of the others.

could be to allow the fan supply to be taken from the starter feed. Supposed to be less voltage drop hence faster fans IIRC.

i have one fan run off the starter supply and it goes like the clappers.

OT i know....
