Potential voltage rectifier problem
Discussion
Hi Chaps,
Just after a bit of advice,I changed the alternator on my pre serp last year and since then I've had a few oddities go on with my gauges. When the car is hot and the fans come on / or you turn on the lights internal blower etc the volt meter drops to 12v, the water temp jumps up about 10deg and the oil pressure comes down about 10psi. When everything is turned off the gauges read more like normal readings. I've measured the voltage out of the alternator which is about 13.3v. So I think it may be the rectifier not holding constant voltage to the gauges. Anyone else experienced this or have any tips? I panic every time it does it! Interestingly I have noticed even if the electrical load is still on and the engine isn't running the voltage and water temp look normal.
Thanks in advance,
Mark
