My 998cc had a 82 deg in it, not sure if thats standard though.

Anyone know what I'd get for a cooper conversion head to fit a 998cc?

ARRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why, is what I want to know, why dont they make gaskets for Minis anymore? Now I have taken the radiator out with a view to dropping the water pump to replace this sodding hose I discover that the water pump gasket is only available with a new water pump!

I have just had a new pump put on so dont really want to shell out for another one, how ridiculous is this, I now have to pay £20 for a 50p gasket.

ARGGGH!

Have you tried any of the mini specialists? They could probably post you one for the next day if you ring soon, some had complete rebuild gasket sets for about £8, still cheaper than buying a water pump.

I thought that, and MiniSpares have one but I wondered how I was going to pay for a 33p part!

Hello mate,

Sorry to hear your misery! You could try Minispeed in byfleet - http://shop2.minispeed.co.uk/

I have also been told that there is a new mini specialist in Sandhurst on the corner of Vulcan way, not tried it yet so don't know how good they are....

Cheers

Cheers for all the advice chaps!

Well, once the rad was out, you know how it is, thought, well might as well paint the cowling while I am here as its looking a bit dicky. So did, and the upper bracket, and the 'stat housing. Finally got a nice little bit of half inch heater hose to do the bypass, new stat, radiator cap and after some frantic searching the old fella 2 mins from my house had a water pump gasket in a box of about 1000 assorted gaskets!

So its all back in now, had visitors last night so didnt manage to get it completed but all I need do is retighten the fan belt, fill the cooling system and I am back to grinning like a nutter on roundabouts

Thanks very much for all the advice and assistance chaps, it really is appreciated.

If you need any small parts *really* urgently I can get from work to Somerford Mini in about 10 minutes flat and believe me, they have EVERYTHING in stock.

Would be glad to make an occasional trip up there if anyone is desperate...

Well done, I also fixed the manifold gasket on mine last night.

So are we to have a Mini meet on Pistonheads?

Most definately I reckon.

Geographically where would be best? Midlands?

One option would be to attend a Midlands Mini show as a Pistonheads group.

Of course Pistonheads is putting in some prizes for the fashion show at Southern Mini Days so would be good to have a group there, its also a school days theme this year so lots of dressing up for the Saturday night

Its at paddock wood hop farm in Kent, its normally a very big attendance, not exactly central though but would be fun as they have a good selection of events etc.

Sounds good to me as its just a pootle round, albeit half way around, the M25.

You're out Kent way arent you?

How long did it take you to get to the Virigina Waters meet as I would be doing almost the exact same journey in reverse.

I’m actually in Charlton, SE London but spend a lot of time in the Kent area, it takes no more than an hour to get to Virginia Waters from mine.

Would you be camping?

It’s up to you if you camp or not, we’re expecting 1000+ minis and up to 6000 people over the 3 days so it’s quite a large show and it’s nice be there for the whole event, it starts Friday evening 1st August and continues over the weekend. There is a well stocked bar as well
