This is true, and also we may get a snowflake land on our drive in about 3 weeks, so one needs to be prepared!

I really want to do a RRC. Lots of the early ones have been mopped up of course. Would have to be a v8 of course. Price wise I don’t want to throw more cash at it so working within the budget of whatever the 90 generates. So that rules out an early car and shooting for perfection. Perhaps an early 80’s one. Was born in 83 so that might be nice. hehe

Second choice would be a 110 double cab TD5 (or v8). This was a full rebuild from galv chassis up so no fear of a project.

Weeeellll... '83 was around the time the first 4 door RaRos appeared. The 'In Vogue'.

My first RaRo was an '84 (A reg) Range Rover In Vogue. Brilliant car. smile

Yup, early 2 doors are silly money.
A 80s model should be doable for your defender.

Should make decent money from it with all the work that’s went into it.

Then you can have fun with a rusty 80s Range Rover

Took my Discovery 300 TDi for its MoT on Tuesday and much to my surprise it passed.

Needs some welding but at least i can trundle round in it while i wait for welding weather 😊

It had been parked in a field for the best part of last year so was looking a bit disreputable so i gave it a quick blast with the power wash.

Defender sold today for asking price (£16.5k). I’m going to relax with a few alerts setup. It’s too cold for garage time anyway. If/ when the right project pops up I shall have it. biggrin

Jesus, shows how mental the defender market is.

Saw a guy selling an 80” like mine with non standard running gear etc.
Offers over £17k which surprised me.
Nice to see I’ve a 4 wheeled rainy day fund hehe

I think Eltax91 said his Defender was fully rebuilt on a galvanised chassis. So the price makes sense in that context, especially with low mileage late production ones around £50k to £60k

1989, borrowed my dads Series 2A for a day at the beach in Hawks Nest, NSW, Australia where I grew up.

Sent it, went wrong, got stuck, dug by hand, lowered the tyre pressures, got out. Nae bother.

I learned to drive on the beach in Dads Landy when I was around 13 years old. Good times.

It’s a 1989 Factory V8. CSW I think. but the original engine died many years ago.

Now running a 4.0 V8 efi with megasquirt. Stainless tubular manifolds and sports exhaust. Put a “new” LT85 gearbox in it about 100 miles ago. Series 3 doors, Exmoor Trim loc’n’fold seats in the rear for the kids. Bulkhead removed and replaced with brace bar - makes the whol interior much more usuable. Vented front discs and ditched the drums for disks on the rear too. And various other bits and bobs, as you do.

Was all looking very tatty, so I’ve just finished respraying it. In white because it hides all my mistakes.

I’ve owned 2 land rovers. First was a 1981 Stage 1 V8 and then I bought this in 2008. Still original chassis, but am planning for a ground up rebuild when it eventually needs a new one. Will have to decide then whether to revert to much more original or not

Very nice!

Lots of mods that I’m trying to make to mine. The first is a 3.9 which is being rebuilt (slowly laugh ). I’m going to store the original 3.5 in case it adds value if I ever sell it.

Yep. Nut and bolt restore of my own fair hand on a GKN galv chassis
