Just bought a phone from MM for my daughter - iPhone SE. I had a good experience buying an iPhone 12 from them a year or so ago so thought why not? Went with “Pristine” condition to get the best I could find.

It turned up, all seemed good, case in good shape, no dead pixels etc. Checked the battery condition - it says possible non-genuine Apple.

I’m pretty unhappy about that TBH - there’s no way of checking the health of it. I know they will say they have run tests and it’s within spec, but that’s not the point. As far as I am concerned it’s had somebody unauthorised inside it fiddling about - there could be damage, could have lost IP rating, could be dust in the camera etc. etc.

I know it’s an old phone, but if I’d wanted to take a punt I would have bought one from ebay. I’ve paid a premium to get one in a decent shape.

It’s within the 14 day return for any reason so shouldn’t be a problem (unless there’s some bullst restocking fee) but am I being unreasonable?

The problem is I don’t know whether it has just been replaced by MM, or if the previous owner did it themself or used some dodgy back alley phone shop. Or indeed what state the battery is in.

Funnily my iPhone 12 had about 85% when I bought it from MM last May and has just started complaining that it needs replacing. I suppose I could hassle them about it but ideally I’d like an apple replacement and they’re really not that expensive…
