Hi All,

I'm hoping the fraternity of car lovers will be able to help.

I have noticed the Green LED and switch in my centre console that locks/unlocks the car doors has stopped working. Remote centrally locking still functions when using the remote, buttons still function to open the doors externally as well as internally when turn the door knob, so it really has me thinking.

I have checked the wiring under the centre console and everything appears to be connected, so I am guessing the problem is under the dash, but before I go searching aimlessly I thought I would reach out to those that can help.

Thanks in advance.

Andrew N.

Pretty sure its operation is lock only with ignition on, turning the knob then opens the door. It was an anti hijack feature.
If its not working maybe check the door closed switches are being operated.

I've had several Chimaeras over the years. That facility never really worked on any of mine, and so I just ignored it.

I had it work on my first Chimaera in 2001 but it was only 6 years old.

It failed in my last Chimaera in 2018 but when I looked at the cost (£40 ish and hard to find) I also just lived with it, which annoyed me slightly because I like everything to work as it should. frown

The button failed on mine after id lent over on it trying to connect jump leads (it was rapidly locking un locking) I got a replacement button and fitted it. I'm sure you could test the wiring to it and simulate it being pressed. It's reasonable easy to get to with a small alan key.

Spray it with electrical contact cleaner ... mine worked fine until last year .... now it's a pain.... catch it before you get out and the outside window button fails to function . I find setting the alarm and un-arming resets it .... The central door knob will function, so I leave my window open or roof off in the garage . Locking the doors is a two stage function, locking and arming .... Only TVR could invent a system like this.... but that's why we "love" them wink

Fair point. wink But I am on my 5th TVR.

You must fix things when they break though? Or not........ I sold it with everything working and no faults aside from that switch.

There's nothing wrong with the Griff, but it's been off the road since September. biggrin

The switch should work without ignition but it only locks the doors does not unlock.
The LED will light showing the doors have locked but only with the ignition on. If either of the lock mechanisms are not adjusted correctly or a 5 wire lock solenoid has been replaced with a 3 wire the LED will not work.
