Probably been discussed before but would anybody care to share what their passions are? other than motoring.
I've always had a passion for entomology. The "bug" (pun intended) bit me at about the age of 5 when I became aware of these beautiful winged creatures called butterflies that settled on flowers and from then on I was hooked. It took me to far off places in the countryside to study and has given me a lifetimes pleasure.
My other passion, or obsession, is cricket which I have played and watched for over 50 years although my bowling days are behind me now, I'd need oxygen after 3 deliveries but still enjoy doing a Boycott impression on a Sunday.

Learning languages. I was interested when younger but didn’t get on with it at school. Has become a bit of an obsession as I have taught myself (to some degree ranging from fluent to basic conversation) in German, Danish, Spanish, French, Hindi, Japanese, Norwegian, Chinese and just started Portuguese (which to be fair is very close to Spanish).

Tennis is another big hobby. I’ve played for most of my life, on and off. I am not very good given how long I have been playing.

Obviously motorbikes and cars.

I also have an interest in physics and maths. My retirement plan is to do an OU degree.

Hiking used to be a big hobby (when we lived in Switzerland). Not so much in Denmark, which is completely flat (and dog unfriendly).

Cooking and entertaining was a big hobby but less so in recent years. I would like to do more again.

Sim racing.

I've got everything, including a motion rig.

I'm truly, truly rubbish. But, I love it nonetheless. Especially when driving in VR.

Within a few minutes of turning the rig on I can be hurtling round Curve Grande in my Lotus 79 , I look to my right and right there is another car. I can almost reach out and touch it.

I try to outbrake him, but I lock up, lose control and crash spectacularly into the barriers.

All the while grinning like a Cheshire cat.

Thank you, this is a perfectly timed thread. I have recently taken early retirement (and it’s rained most days since then!) I spent much of yesterday evening thinking about things I would like to do with my time.

There must be more to life than watching Homes Under The Hammer …

Also do enjoy a round of golf, problem is that I'm rubbish, distance isn't an issue more direction.

I had a serious illness back in 2013 and spent a lot of time watching daytime TV? Including lots of Homes under the Hammer. Started to make me think that death wasn’t such a bad outcome…

I feel for you. When I started WFH during covid I had daytime telly on for background noise but after a couple of months gave it up, I'd need a full frontal lobotomy to watch it again.

I'm 32, with a 3 year old and another due any day now, so my hobbies are non-existent currently.
However, when I'm able I'll be back out on the motorbike and repairing it when needed.
Cooking is a constant hobby that I get to practice every day.
I used to love gaming but don't get much time these days and the wife thinks its for children.

I got to grade 6 piano when I was younger and still enjoy playing when I can, but as soon as my daughter hears it she comes running and slams the keys until I stop. Not annoying at all.

Only 36 years til retirement.... (who am I kidding, I'll be working to the grave).

Kayaking - took it up again a couple of years ago after a 30 year break - mainly flat water, but the occasional whitewater trip.
Darts - play in a local league.
Table Tennis - also local league.
Photography - I've been taking photos since I was about 12 - still learning and still love it.
Pinball - I play a LOT of pinball. I live in North London, was at a pinball competition in Cambridge last weekend, one in Woking on Thursday night, and will be in Birmingham tomorrow for another. Great fun, and a really nice community.
Other stuff I do but less often these days - juggling, play cricket, play the harmonica, play the violin.

Used to have too many fingers in many pies so I did a cull.

Now my main hobby which takes up 3-4 evenings and weekends is Caving/Mine Exploring.

Also a big fan of procrastination. biggrin

Sailing, generally the small fast stuff rather than lead mines.
Sticking bits of plastic together, either with glue (models) or friction (Lego).
Computer games, usually slower paced ones like Civilisation rather than anything requiring a twitchy trigger finger.
