It's been in about 3 or 4 years and hasn't had much care other than watering so has grown a bit out of Control, wrapped itself around the fence etc.

It's a passiflora.. Constance Elliott apparently.

Lost its leaves over winter and hasn't started growing them back yet... Some of the branches were dry and dead so have removed them and untangled it alot.

The main body looks 'dry' but isn't brittle / dead.

Then when you get out to the ends of the shoots they're nice and green and 'juicy'

So is it dead? Can it be saved if not?

Was tempted to cut it right back but not sure where it would shoot off from if I did that?

Awful photos below...

No it's not dead ... I thought I'd killed mine , because I pruned it down to the ground 2 years ago ...last year did nothing... but now it's shooting again ... so just a light prune to tidy it up and I bet it flowers this year.

With any woody stemmed plant that looks dead, scratch some of the outer bark away with your fingernail, if the fibres inside are green then it's alive, if brown and dry then it's dead. Obviously that only refers to the stem you are testing,

It doesn't look completely dead but I'd have thought it should be putting on new growth by now, unless you're way up North. They are pretty resilent though so tie it up & give it another month or two.

It's recommended you cut a Passion Flower back hard , I think early Spring ... That's what I did and it was a mistake ... tidy it yes , but don't cut it back to the ground that was my experience.
