Not so sad when someone gets mown down by a speeder......... I know the village, and I'm not sure 30mph is safe, let alone the speeds some of these people are doing. I used to live in a village, with a 30mph limit, and complained to the police about speeding motorist (mostly village residents). The reply? Sorry sir not enough resources/no reported accidents. Armed with this evidence, I think the police may pay more attention. What does our resident police officer think?

I was thinking of doing a similar thing outside my house: I live on an estate, and I was getting fed up with the amount of cars going past, tyres squealing, on the wrong side of the road, approaching a junction and a children's play area. These are roads where you can't even do 30 mph safely, what with kids, animals, parked cars, and so on. I agree with most of the 30mph zones I encounter and drive accordingly. Hell, at 30, you have more time to watch people drop their garden tools as you rumble past...

Staying with sad, sad, sad. In January 2001, there were 15.6 hours between each 'speeding event' and someone 'analysed' 125 hours to find this out. Very sad.

So they should campaign for proper limits in the first place instead of ever decreasing one's. Anybody notice none of these sad cretins ever seem to own anything over and above a 1300cc Metro?? 'cept 2 jags of course but then he can ignore speed limits with Jack-straw-like regularity.

Hang on a minute, until you've been down the road in question, seen the context in which people are speeding, it's probably not fair to label someone as a sad cretin like that. Hey, I nearly did it, and I drive a TVR.

I whole heartedly agree Marshy. On the face of it it is a 'techie sad thing'. BUT, if he has had little success with reporting this, then any evidence will help encourage the police to act. As I said in my first response, I would like to see PC (or is it sergeant?) Robson's opinion.

Judging by the low number of speeders spotted in this village, it would seem very inefficient to deploy police resources there. Then again, I suppose they've got to park somewhere to eat their sandwiches!

Would be willing to bet most of these speeders are the same people that then drive at 45 in the nice wide open 60mph bits between villages aswell, no probs with cameras in Urban areas (including Villages), just keep them off the faster bits...

I know the village in question. I think the stretch of road concerned is a longish straight, downhill heading out of the village with very few houses... This guy obviously has too much time on his hands.
