I have heard that the speed limit for panel vans (plated 4.6 tonnes) is not 70 on motor ways but 60. Can John advise. Other transport is a tiv.

Goods vehicles under 7.5 tonnes 50 single carriageway, 60 dual 70 motorway, goods veh's over 7.5 tonnes 40 single, 50 dual, 60 m/way, car derived vans are as per cars providing they are under 2000kg's unladen. Artics are different again but I suppose you don't want the speeds for them. So 70 is legal in your van on a M?way but you are supposed to stick to 10 mph under the limit on a single or dual carriageway, the good news is that GaTSO's don' know what type of vehicle you drive. Hope it helps. Edited by john robson on Monday 30th April 15:05
