Wait, you can get married, have houses, and build your own weapons / armour?! I was totally unaware of this - it appears there is a lot more to this game than I have anticipated

Put it this way the game guide you can buy is about an inch thick.

And your own food......And even magic weapons (once you have a high enough skill level).

Enough with spawning Dragons!!!
They were fun to fight the first few times, but now with 30+ killed they are just annoying. I wish I could turn them off all together now.
I fast travelled to Riverside to sell some stuff, an Ancient Dragon spawned and flew around attacking, but rarely landing, so it took so long to kill it that the game spawned another dragon!
And it killed the NPC smith!
I'm at the point now where they aren't a threat to me but still take too long to kill. It's making the game tedious..

LandR said: Enough with spawning Dragons!!! PC? If so open the console with the key top left of the keyboard (above TAB) And type - set MQ106TurnOffRandomDragons to 1 That will remove all random Dragons from appearing above you around Skyrim or after fast travel. After you have killed enough Dragons to activate all shouts to 3 levels, killed Alduin and have 50 dragon souls still spare you tend to get a little confused as to where all the extra Dragons are coming from when you see the map of Dragon burials.

Annoying - indeed. I load my follower up and then forget that she's humping around loads of dragon scales - have about 90 in storage but doubt I'll use them as dragonscale armour looks pants. I want us to be in matching Deadra shoit .

I load my follower up and then forget that she's humping around loads of dragon scales You need to go to the Steed Stone. Also, a lot of items can be enchanted with Fortify Carry. I have boots, gloves, necklace and ring of Fortify Carry and the Volsung mask also has Fortify Carry. You can turn yourself into quite the pack mule with all that.

Or buy/make a back pack (if on PC), more lore friendly than using ring and boots with carry enchantments. I haven't read the whole Thread as I'm trying very hard to avoid all spoilers, no matter how small.
But is there ever a use for all the... random tat that litters the place.
Paper, ink wells, drums, baskets, embalming equipment etc.
Up to a point I have collected one of any unique item I come across and have them stashed in a cupboard. Should a NPC require something for a side quest and so on but it would be good if there was a combine X to create Y or collect 3x to use etc.
I appreciate some items have uses, Ruined Books for example. There just seems an awful lot of flotsam about. Nice for immersion, but pointless?

That's a shame. It would be so easy to create a narrative for them. No matter how small or short.

Assassin's Creed has the right balance for me.
Anything you can interact with does something... breaks, becomes a weapon, is usable.
Everything else is pure decoration and adds to the atmosphere but isn't directly interactable.
Fair play for going the nine yards to add bits and pieces but it's frustrating as an environment explorer to find things that are of no use.
Even in GTA, you can throw cups of coffee at people!

There are bits and pieces that do use the random stuff - not in the main questline IIRC - but yes, do agree. I'm hoping for/looking forward to being able to do some more interesting and complex stuff with the crafting system as the game develops further.

Baskets etc, use to decorate your home, drop things like food, flowers or ingredients in them for visual effect. Do an immediate save, quit & load though or if you leave the cell next time you come back they will have exploded across the room. Goblets and mugs, try and build the buggest pyramid. Endless hours of fun
