Call of Duty MW3
Discussion
Sadly big patches and updates seem to be the accepted par for the course with games these days. Handily, I now get 1,000mbps download at home so this latest patch will only take a few minutes.
I've not played masses of MW3 but it reminds me of the Clarkson quote about the DB9 vs. DBS, where the DBS was much the same as the DB9 but every little thing was a little bit better. So it is with MW2 vs. MW3.
I'm in two minds about the unlock system. Part of me thinks that, like an earlier poster in this thread said, once you reach level 55 that's it and everything should be unlocked. But then the new system means you can unlock the key things you want almost immediately. After I'd unlocked about 5 items, the rest were far less essential and I quite like the fact that there's still something to work towards even though I reached level 55 a while ago. But the best thing about it by a mile is that it puts more of an emphasis on winning matches. CoD for me has always been a its best when you're in a match with a bunch of randoms and everyone is playing the objective. I get far more of those matches in MW3 because, for the time being at least, there are plenty of people that want those sweet bonus unlock points.

I never normally bother with camo grind... But decided to do it this time, starting with SMGs.
I find it perversely addictive!!
Not clicking with zombies after DMZ which I loved. But it's ok for ranking up guns to get to the next camo challenge.
I love unlocking things and using new guns, think that’s why this system I’m not a fan of. I find it perversely addictive!!

I’m a massive zombies player, having said that I haven’t touched a zombies mode for the last few games because the black ops 3 chronicles will never be bettered, put around 900 hours into it according to the ps5, remastered versions of the black ops 1 maps, they all started to go too daft after black ops 2.
I have tried MW3’s zombie mode considering its new direction, I quite like it to be honest, I’m probably at a 50/50 in terms of time spent on zombies and multiplayer in mw3

Is it worth paying for this? I was always a DMZ player so I won't touch the campaign, unlikely to do much in multiplayer, and
will most likely just play Resurgence and Plunder. Not sure I can be bothered with Zombies so is there any reason to shell out 60 quid or whatever it is?
No its recycled maps and what you will play is free online so dont buy it.will most likely just play Resurgence and Plunder. Not sure I can be bothered with Zombies so is there any reason to shell out 60 quid or whatever it is?
Anyone else finding that re-spawn on multiplayer is gash since the last couple of small updates?
Even on large maps you get respawned right in front of the other team, on small maps you can easily get shot 4 to 6 times without even firing a shot.
You'd think they'd learn from previous versions.

Yeah, the spawn issues have never been resolved in my opinion. I can forgive Shipmas/Shipment as it's so small that you're always spawning into fire but it's unforgiveable to spawn in on wasteland, like I did last night and get instantly shot from fairly close range before I could get my gun ADS. Spawns were tweaked again in yesterday's update. Whether it'll make much difference to how the game plays is a different matter...
I also see they removed the weapon ready animation when you first spawn on the small maps. That should help on Shipment as I'd often spawn looking directly at someone and they could kill you while you were paralyzed by the weapon ready animation. Very annoying and it's great they've sorted it.

The camo grind is much easier than the previous games. I'm 60% of the way through although struggling to see how I'm going to get 5 knife kills without dying 5 times. I can barely get a 5 killstreak with a proper gun
I thought this was going to be a tough one to get, with the Karambit challenge of 20 kills without the enemy damaging you being much more realistic for a melee weapon. Having done the Karambit one and got a bit addicted to knifing i went back to the gutter knife and kept using it on the off chance i might get a streak going. Then the forged challenge just popped up as complete. Turns out it's been bugged since launch and all you need is 25 kills, so pretty easy. I hope if they get round to patching it they change the wording to match the current requirement, rather than the other way round. I've been away from this series for ever and a day and jumping back in (on PS5) I noticed that any noob starting the game is going to be annihilated no matter how good you are at the game. It takes forever to level up unless you jump into Hardcore mode and remove the level system and have 1-shot kill.
In fact, I hardly even play any other mode and it reminded me so much of the Counter Strike days of 20 years ago. Suits the pace of the game down to a tee.
