It's not bedrock as it's no where near low enough, and it's not near the edge of the map perimeter at all it's just by chewys place... very strange!

Probably obsidian then. You need an iron or diamond pick.

It's normal stone by the look of it, tried my diamond pick and it didn't budge it. My only other thought was it was a lava/water meeting point and a new stone block created immediately after destroying the one I'm hacking at

You can't mine any blocks around the spawn house as that's protected area to prevent griefing. Standard on all multiplay servers.

That seems most likely, my tracks intended destination was just beside the nether portal at the bottom of the stairs from chewys. I will just stop it as close as I can :-)

Mike, I hear your 3 hrs AFK at the gold farm didn't net quite as much as you'd hoped. That is sad news.. However the C.R. Team "doing the work" can help with your gold requirements in the future so fear not. We have a special system in place to restock our shop when people are AFK. As this is such a unique system there is a price to pay: 1 stack of wither skulls per gold block. We look forward to doing business with you.

In other news:

Could you please keep your chicken farm down to reasonable numbers please, ie. 200 entities max. It was over 700 entities last night, the server is full of "can't keep up!" entries and the world took about 20 seconds to fully render in the vicinity of your base along with single digit frames for myself. Thanks. smile

Also, the lava cooker does not work as that was attempted first in order to reduce the numbers. There is an obsidian block placed inside which seems to be hampering the operation. PS. that was nothing to do with the C.R. team and already like that.

Ahem... I usually try to do an AFK for an hour, as when I've tried longer sessions I've been kicked of the server.. This time old age took over; I fell asleep during Fifth Gear.. I was a tad disappointed when I woke up, but figured you guys had been playing around in the nether, so reducing the spawn rates...

Not sure how it got to that number of chooks - when I built it it had ~100 in there, and the workings are that only the eggs go down to be hatched then drowned (or cooked in lava). One of the levers does switch it into breeding mode to increase the number of breeders in the top level, but ~100 chooks has always been plenty. Anyhows, I've plenty of roast chicken, so will shut the thing down (until it's needed again, which could be a long long time!)

All the lava cooker does is give you pre-roasted chicken; there's 2 different ways of killing the chooks - drowning gives you feathers and raw chicken, the lava gives you ready roasted chooks, it doesn't kill off the breeders...

Oh yeah, your Gold Emporium is pretty nice, but the prices are a tad steep! And your shopkeep is a noisy bugger, his growling is keeping me awake at night! biggrin

Just seen this, was not a part of the design, and has only appeared very recently - I've not seen this before. It's blocking the water and lava outlet, and is possibly the reason the entities grew so much? Not sure, but will fix it all.

That's definitely not me! winkgetmecoat

That was so funny though. It was worse than the FTB chicken wars. They trampled all your farm and even managed to make it to the nether portal somehow!

Did you not think it strange that you only yielded a tiny amount of nuggets from your 3 hours AFK? And did you not think it strange how a gold shop suddenly springs up right outside your front door with a significant amount of gold for sale, perhaps the amount one might expect to yield after spending 3 hours AFK in the nether.. ?

I guess you've never watched bubs and gennyB "doing the work" on YT then otherwise it would all click into place.

Actually no, I knew there were folk about in the nether, and that reduces spawn rates, so thought it fairly normal..

Nope, I thought you may have just nicked the gold from my storage facility to build it! biggrin

You guess right!

I don't think I've actually been 'pranked' before, it's surprisingly fun! Obviously, I've been buried in an obsidian-lined hole when I've been AFK, but that's just Rob being a git, not a proper prank! hehe

I don't think you'd turned the system on - I've just checked and the primary lifting droppers were full of nuggets and RF, they just weren't getting lifted up and into the rest of the system. I've taken what gold was in the system and put it in the chest near the exit for you to collect when you're next on.

Nice one shmeeky. It was around an hour afk, what's the haul like? I removed that redstone, replaced it and flipped the switch... I'll get a demo when I'm on with one of the mc masters next.

Sounds like you missed one or more of the glowstone towers. There's about 4 or 5 of them dotted around to mark where you need to break and replace the redstone to start it off. I had the same problems fyi when it was first built.

That was the Mk1 system, I've since rebuilt the entire thing so there is only one clock to start, the one right behind the moss-stone sign wall.

Dan, when we're next on at the same time I'll take you through it and show you how it all works. smile

The take for an hour of AFK'ing is around 32 blocks of gold. I can't remember exactly what you generated in your hour of AFKing, but it was quite a bit less than 32 blocks - because the system wasn't transporting it away to storage it all backed up and was lost.. frown
