Yep, you can play in Creative mode, which gives you access to all the blocks with an infinite supply. You can also set it to Peaceful mode, so that no aggressive mobs spawn. The only thing holding you back then is your imagination!

recently come back to vanilla minecraft after spending a while on ftb, hunger as always is an issue, but where as on ftb there is many mods to help, i find i am struggling, got a very basic wheat farm but that really isn't cutting it.

Had a look online for some automatic computer farms, but i can't find one to settle on that isn't huge or doesn't 100% work on 1.7.9

Can anybody reccommend a link to a compact chicken farm that works!

Found this video:

using a varient of it the now and it works quite well. Alternatively start a food bank for the server.

After farrrr too many years putting it off, putting it off again and putting it off some more, I've finally ordered myself a new PC and screen. spin

Intel Core i7-4770K Quad Core 3.5GHz HD 4600 8MB 84W CPU Processor
16GB DDR3 Memory
Gigabyte Motherboard
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760
128GB Solid State Drive
2TB Hard Drive

and a BenQ XL2411Z 24" screen which has excellent reviews use you make some adjustments to the default colours.

Ordered from CCL who are down the road from me, £1362 in total. eek

Should be able to get more than 1 FPS around Mike's Heath Robinson redstone contraptions now. laugh

Looks like a pretty damn fine system - beefy processor, swift GPU, good SSD and plenty of storage...

..let down by a lack of Random Access Memory.. only 16Gb? What were you thinking?

I did raise the same question as I thought it was overkill for my requirements but to be honest altering the configurator to reduce it to 8 didn't make any significant saving on the price and this machine is to last me a long time so I'm just going along with it and putting it down to future proofing. I've been wanting to get into some video production for a long time now so if that ever happens then the extra ram will prove to be a wise investment.

Been on all today, no sign of anyone frown . Should be floating around tomorrow too.

Sorry Dan, didn't even see you come online eek. That now explains why my mob farm rates went down to nothing as they'd have been spawning over near you.w

Does anyone take hunger damage after about 5 mins of standing still/AFK ? My hunger bar completely drains to empty when I'm idle, which should not happen according to the wiki. Anyone else? Mike?

The hunger thing has happened to me once, pretty bizarre...

Mike have you seen any fast hopper processors? Done a serious amount of cave clearance to improve the efficiency of my mob tower now which has worked a treat, but I'm having loads of problems with my chests and hoppers backing up as they can't process the drops fast enough. Saw JLs mammoth build but that is too big and complicated for me to attempt. Have a look next time you're on and see if you have any ideas please. smile
