Have a look at the roads up around Pindale, behind Castelton and the cement works quarry.

It's quiet up there, a bit wild and should be good as the sun comes up.

This white road joins a yellow and there's a bit of room to park up, but not for a goodly number of cars. View it on street view and also follow the yellow from here towards the back of Bradwell and Tideswell.

Ok will give a link later it may be narrower and rougher than I remember. Used to take the rally car over it on the way to the Barrel.

Thinking of the other direction towards Retford. Can you still access the peri tracks and unused runway on the disused part of Gamston. It's a long time since I was there to use the runway to prove that an ancient diesel Landy fully laden with straw bales couldn't reach the speed alleged by Lincs police.*

  • * Great success plus cps and police got a shellacking from the beak for abuse of process amongst other things.

Well this is the Barrel Inn end of Sir William Hill white. It's a bit narrower than I remember but clearly the Google car drove all the way down it so the surface can't be that bad. So you can drive down it on street view, hardly used iirc, especially early morning.

Gamston airfield https://goo.gl/maps/Ktqh9

The main runway is on the right, but used to be able to get permission to access the peri track and disused runway on the left of the picture.

My RS will be back on the road in 2 weeks so any time after then will be fine for me biggrin
Will do, but please no rough roads, I've only got 4" of ground clearance at the front smile

Some good suggestions.

Think we need to be realistic though, if we're wanting nice weather etc the car parks mentioned will have other cars in them etc. I'm happy to just meet up and have a few nice pictures, don't have to be all arty farty :P

I think a late evening time would be best for quietness especially as it's light till fairly late now.

Same here, and just replaced all the suspension components too, so pot holes aren't ideal either weeping

Or Calton Lees car park albeit a charge.

Other direction you've got Clumber and Thoresby hall again charges and by the sound of some of the ground clearances they aren't going to want to deviate from smooth tarmac.

Shrugs.

A few years back I did a photo shoot with the Supercardrivers Club at an area of disused land just through Stoney Middleton, it's not shown on Google Maps but I think it may be off Thunderpit Lane, room for about 30 cars or 15 if you're doing arty shots such as this one:-

I know, sadly gratuitous biggrin

Yep that's the place. It was always a pity that it was never open on the night of the Hope Motor show so it had to be Tideswell chippy.

Do they still have Hope Motor show by the way?

Going East from Sheffield if you guys want a run to a chippy. The Upton chippy at Gainsborough the last coal fired chippy in operation. You will be queuing down the street and round the corner though.

I think not, but Sheffield & Hallamshire Motor Club still does one in June at the Traveller's Rest pub just before Hope, opposite the road to Bradwell. Good 'un, it is.

Ah, thought you meant the one North Midland Motor Club used to do in Hope.

No you are right. Forgotten about the North Midland one. Bloody hell what was the pub?

Getting to be an old farm, too easily confused.

By the way actually drove over Ringinglow from Yorkshire bridge the other weekend. Must be getting old can't picture the speeds used to do on road rallies over there. Especially the narrow bumpy New Road dropping down to Bamford near YB pub.

yes...good rabbit hunting down that road.

It was used at least once by the Gulf London Rally in the 60s.

Hope pub is the Old Hall.
