Anyone doing the "Mini Miglia" next month?
Discussion
Lancashire AC have a St George's Touring Assembly listed on the ANWCC calendar on the 20th April.

Good spot. 21st running of the tour, 75 miles, Sunday 27th April 2014.
Looks like a different approach to the Miglia in that it's much shorter, no tests (although the Miglia only had one in the end) and entry is restricted to cars loosely defined as "classic". I guess it'll be rather less intense and rather more genteel?
Still would be fun but I think I'll pass on this one. More details for anyone else who might fancy it:

Thanks for the info, chaps. I've been looking around for a little while for suitable events (since I got the Puma, really) and it seems there's lots of events out there - as long as you've either got a 'proper' classic (probably pre-1980 now) or are happy to really give your car a proper 'rally' work-out (and no so concerned if it gets a bit, well, bashed). Not so much for more recent (but still interesting to some people) cars. In that sense, the Mini Miglia looked pretty much spot-on - a chance to do some enthusiastic (but not dangerously so) driving with other like-minded gents and ladies. As the Puma is a daily driver I can't (and don't want to) either get it hammered on gravel/off-road circuits or have it modified to cope with anything too strenuous. I'll keep looking, but thank you again.
Mike. Can I suggest you have a look around at your local motor clubs. They will be running navigational scatters and 12 car rallies, which for the most part are non damaging and people frequently use there daily driver. Although to be fair it's getting out of season now as they are usually run in an evening under darkness. Our season starts again in late September.
The devils own is running this weekend.Targa event tests with no regularity

Berwick Classic on May 3/4th
I think they allow modern stuff as well

Lake District classic on June 29th Same day as BTCC at croft
12 cars are good fun, not done any for years, won a clubbie 12 car championship in a Bog standard 1.4 Pug 306, so you don't need a modded missile.
Won again in a Group N clio Williams that was a modded missile.
Ilkley MC are a very active club for 12 cars and the like.
York MC run an autotest once a month. Usually 9 tests, three run three times for an entry fee of £11. I've been doing these again this year after about a 25 year break. About £15 to Join YMC for the year. Pretty much use any car (noise might be an issue) you like although I don't think four drive is allowed.
Other motorclubs are available!

Just dragging this back up to advise that Kirkby Lonsdale motor club are thinking of organising a similar event to the mini miglia.
the plan is to follow the route of the 1985 devils own rally, they picked that year as I suspect it was one of the last motoring news championship counters. It's about 150 miles and would start and finish near Kendal at the Heaves Hotel.
The date is expected to be August 3rd, no good for me as it clashes with another event.
Nothing is certain yet, it's just a proposal, but anybody interested might like to contact the club.
I expect you would need to be a KLMC member.

At the risk of looking like I'm "promoting" the event here are links to the regs and entry form for "The 85 Devils Own Tour":

I've hosted them on Dropbox as Kirkby Lonsdale Motor Club have a rubbish website and don't seem to have these published anywhere on the web.
Anyone fancy it? I do, but I need to check I'm allowed out and that I have a co-driver available!
Looks very similar to the Mini Miglia including having dinner thrown in with the entry fee.
