Just seen a convey of Ambulance vehicles travelling east bound on M62 between Wakefield and Pontefract at 8:45. At the front a Discovery and L200, followed by what looked like some kind of command vehicle (about twice the size of regular Ambulance) and a regular Ambulance. Followed later by two Police Cars.

Looked like the response to a major incident but nothing on the News.

Anybody know what's up?

by the sounds of the four Ambulance vehicles described it was HART or USAR

HART= hazardous area response team

USAR= urban search and rescue

the Discovery is the supervisor vehicle / recce / full off road capapble response vehicle ( iirc the national HART spec for the Discovery includes wading kit and a front winch)
the pickup is the small equipment vehicle
the large vehicle was either a the command vehicle (if it has windows in the body)or the large equipment vehicle if it has doors / roller shutters
the normal ambulance is exactly that a Normal ambulance to transport the casualty.

the program exists for two reasons

1. provide paramedic care inside the 'inner cordon'

2. the wihle civilcontingencies / resilience and response to terrorism stuff ( whichis why the fleet andequipment is a national spec barring a few things like choice of defib)

Incident involving a Prison Vehicle in an RTC on the A1 near Doncaster this morning. Possible that it could have been heading for that.
