Everyone seems to know of one either back in the day or recently that's gone missing...
Must of been at one point the most stolen car?...
Post your stories!
I used to keep mine in various rented garages, s used to follow me and try and thieve the car, I took the ecu with me so they never got it. When I bought a place with a garage my f++k off nasty GSD slept a few feet from the car and there was never any hassle then.Must of been at one point the most stolen car?...

I can only tell two of them. A friend of the family's adult daughter's boyfriend got done for stealing one from a car park. Someone I knew that had a public sector job that's supposed to be respected got a telephone call from a friend. Seems the said friend had found one burnt out almost in the middle of nowhere and wanted a hand getting the engine out of the burnt out remains. They refused to help, and cited their profession.
I don't know, but I doubt it. Car crime was rife in Sheffield in 1992 and the Sapphire Cosworth was any thieves ultimate prize. Factor in too that they didn't have a Vecta fitted due to their being police vehicles, meaning that any brave fellow with a screwdriver could take one in 30 seconds.
That's about the extent of my recollection, but the newspaper story was short on detail too, as SYP weren't keen on sharing the finer points.

Enjoying these
Why? They're fking miserable tales of scumbag s ruining the ownership of the greatest sports saloon ever.Last ones I heard of being stolen locally were in 2010, I think. Two Sapphires stolen from a locked garage in the night, never seen again. Speaking to a lad not so long ago who owns a Sapphire, he keeps it in a lockup and never parks it in open air!
It's madness and a dreadful shame. Stopped me buying a Sierra Cosworth in 2011 when I had the cash to go for one. I'd even arranged a viewing on one.

I was on the way to work in the glamorous city of Salford one night in 1992 when, sat at some traffic lights I heard an almighty commotion and a Cossie Sapphire and a Golf GTI came screeching over the pavement in front if me from a (now bollarded) footpath. Clearly stolen and being ragged within and inch of their lives. I suspect GMP found two bunt out cars that night.
1995, my parents' 9 month old Escort (Monte Carlo #68, where are you now?) went from outside the house. They took the glass out of the front door to get they keys at about 4AM. I returned home minutes later from a night out. Tracker were informed, but they had to wait an hour for the helicopter and traffic crews to come on duty, after which it was found very quickly, abandoned near the local sink estate. Thankfully no damage.
Yeah I remember growing up these things were the thieving bds must haves, and now they are on to audi RS4s.
Really wanted a RS4 for the last few years but it's the theft risk that's put me off, best one was the RS4 stolen from the owners house in Aberdeen, the owners were made aware of the situation and put a great post on Facebook wishing that the little wks wrap themselves round a tree........ The owners got warned by the police about the post.
This post now has me looking at escort cosworths now

My fathers saph, 93 K 300bhp power engineering/Brooklyn ford one got taken from a travel lodge in birmingham while we ate in the pub next door, approx 3 hours after we parked it. Oct 1996, we were up for the motor show.
There was a problem at the time with a lot of Brooklyn supplied cars going missing in the area. We have them on VHS taking it as it was parked directly under a camera.
They pull up in a silver impreza turbo2000 (stolen), walk up and get in the passenger side of the saph as if its unlocked, 1min 45 later the guy shuffles over to the drivers side, another guy gets out of the impreza and pushes it out of the parking space, they put the impreza behind (apparently to push it to a layby to work on if stealing it there isn't 100% successful), they bump start it though by pushing it. Then they just leave, calm as ever, really slow and normal looking.
It was seen in chelmsley wood then also was used in a robbery. They put the impreza through a shop window, got away in a stolen s3 then held the cops up in the cossie and when the audi was gone they left the cops for dead. This was straight from the cops mouth, they asked what was done to the car as they couldn't catch it. They had a white saph 4x4 themselves. Impreza owner got his car back.
The car was never recovered. He bought a k plate escort to replace it. When we showed the video of the theft to vecta they fitted their new system to the escort for free. Iirc the Saphs immobiliser was £600 back in 93 and was 6 point top of the line, didn't help though.
Sorry for the long post!
