You can do it with a few hundred miniature document foldback clips too, possibly. Worked well for me. Get it all nice and tight then work round unclipping, gluing and adding tightness. Gives you unlimited scope to get everything just so before committing to the contact adhesive.

Oooh hello - is that an evocation of the Lindner/Nocker car? Bet that sounds superb and goes well on triple Webers!

Thanks. I have now ordered a load from eBay.

I have also been told not to trim anything to any severity until after the glue has set. Then to just cut off the excess.

I'd never done it before and it came out fine. Perfect in fact. Just need to get into a sort of zen-like 'this takes as long as it takes' frame of mind, which I guess is the secret to this whole hobby of ours.

I'm still making progress on the Gilbern Chevy GT, it was in daylight today for the 1st time in a while, en-route to get the exhaust made.

When did the Chevy bit come from - thought it was going to be a standard car???

Looking good, Mark - it’ll be spring soon

The Chevy GT was a one-off built by the factory in '65 for local racer, Ken Wilson. It had a short competition history, sprints and races, before ending up being stored by various subsequent owners. Apparently Ken borrowed the engine for one of his boats which sank. The car had a brief reappearance with a Lotus twin cam before spending many more years in a lock-up. I purchased it about a year ago and set about restoring it for the track. The B series was the most common engine for the GT, this is my other Gilbern.

Short wheelbase+lots of power+even more torque: I would imagine this is a fairly regular occurrence.

Good work, Keep it Stiff - it's great seeing this come back together. I've always had a soft spot for the Gilbern GT, and anything with a whopping great Chevy V8 in it is naturally better than standard, no?

It was great when people used to run specials like that Gilbern, among a couple of others I recall a friend in the 60s running a Lotus 47 with an FVA fitted - from memory it had enough grunt to keep up with a Ford GT40 down the old back straight at Snetterton.

This is my 3.8 series 1 E Type which was made in 1962.
My dad bought it around 1972 and it’s been in the family since.

Picked up my 66 Mustang Coupe from Roy at The Mustang Workshop yesterday after a good going over and service including a new Holley carb. Runs like a dream!

He’s a good chap is Roy, I bought my first Mustang off him 20 + years ago - a ‘67 coupe with zero rust …

Can’t recall if I have put this up here before, but apologies if so.

My 3rd Lotus Sunbeam. Owned it for 15 months now, so far, axle rebuilt and correct CWP fitted, G-box out for new organic clutch, new discs all round, re built carbs, replacement battery [old one was ok, just not very well fitted and to big] and just recently refreshed engine as the Head gasket failed. I bought the car on the exceptional condition of the body/interior and mechanical spec, so knew it would require some “adjustments”

I LOVE driving this car, the emotions it inspires are priceless [even with a slight oil leak from the bellhousing area wink ]

That looks well and even better that you are enjoying it the way it was meant to be enjoyed . Yesterday I had the pleasure of accompanying a good friend up to his Car Storage Provider . Four Sierra Cosworths and one RS5000 sat there in dehumidified Heaven and they have been there for close to a decade
