Any feedback on using the above service or alternatively any suggestions for a pound to euro transfer to a French Bank for around the 50k, they are quoting around 1.25 only .01 under todays interbank, thanks.

Currency Fair and Transferwise are quoting 1.253 net. Their rates are not guaranteed, but I've use TW loads of times for £1-5K transfers and have always hit or bettered the estimated rate. It may be slightly better tomorrow, but I'm not too sure you'll do much better tbh as the euro's been a couple of centimes up from it's recent lowest over the past week or two. If you don't already have accounts with these firms bear in mind they'll probably want a passport copy by e-mail before transferring this amount.
For a further £15, e-mail me off my website and I'll "introduce" you.

CurrencyFair operate an excellent service. If you go on their market place, you can actually beat the interbank rate. NOBODY does that!

Used them a few times to send dollars to Oz. Quick and reliable.

Thanks to you both for the info, just have a feeling that the pound may get a bit stronger over the next few months so may hang on a bit but I have been wrong before! On another issue its staggering the awful rates at the Eurotunnel terminal, feel sorry for anybody needing any last minute cash for their holidays.

Here's a clip from the Transferwise e-mail re a transfer of £1000 to euros that I made yesterday 18th.
"All done! The money should arrive by Monday, 9 AM The final rate was 1 GBP Pound Sterling = 1.2746 EUR Euro, and we charged you £4.98 for the service."
Yesterday's spot rate on the ECB website was 1.2714.

edit: transfer showing in my French account on afternoon of Friday 19th.
