Just on the off chance that someone from PH lives in Provence and has an interesting classic that they wouldn't mind renting out for a 5km drive to and from the church to our wedding venue? Would happily throw in some drinks at the wedding reception too!

Best I've managed to source is a local 2CV, which seems appropriate but I'm definitely getting screwed on the price and it's no Jaguar MKII.

Failing that, can anyone recommend a rental place?

Have you tried Rent a classic in Nice? its run by Fabrice and Linda.
There is also Classic Car Rental France near Bèziers but that might be too far away, ask for Ian.

You aren't necessarily being screwed for the 2CV. It's a standard wedding item everywhere and if it's a usual supplier it will come decorated to local taste - and this IS France.

Thanks for that, emailed Rent a Classic this morning - some lovely cars there!

You're right re Bèziers though, a bit far for me.

I hear you but 300 Euros for 15 mins (it's a 5km drive) is taking the piss!

Really? But it is not 15 minutes is it. The car has to be cleaned before and after (that takes a couple of hours), it has to be driven to the venue from its base and back again, wages to the driver, back up transport has to be arranged in case of breakdown, and the car cannot be used for anything else that day. A good 2CV will cost 10k these days.

How much would you charge for a day out of your life and the supply of 10ks worth of equipment?

I used to do wedding hire commercially, these days I just do it for friends mainly due to an attitude like this.

On another note have they finished the D52 yet or is it still a pita going to St Maxime?

Jumping to conclusions here matey - the hotel own it and I'm taking over the hotel for three days, which is over four times the price of their 2CV so yeah, I think it's taking the piss! Also, I'm driving it, don't want a driver, don't want it tarted up so none of the cleaning you describe.

Renting one of the sports cars mentioned above for the whole weekend is only going to cost 350 euros. Context is everything

D52 or D25 from the A8,

if the latter then yes it is all finished. Came out of St Max on Sunday morning. Mostly single c/w but a few areas of d/c in either direction to get past Dutch caravans or German motorhomes
