Whats the cost of running a quick car like?

I looked at importing my Corvette before i sold it and registration fees alone were over 25% of its valued due to its CV.

Is it similarly prohibitive for cars already imported? Specifically looking at c6 Z06 corvettes

Reg fees are still the same whether newly imported or already registered in France, although if the car is over 10 years old there's a 50% reduction in the registration fee so if you find a pre 2012 one you're saving!

If you're using the online ANTS calculator, don't put the actual horsepower, it's a common problem.
Take a look at Lacentrale, similar to Autotrader, for a similar year Vette, the ad' will show the CV figure that you need.
I imported a 2010 Jag' XFR 510BHP in January last year and that was €906, fortunately I got the paperwork started just before brexit.
Good luck.

Worth noting that after registering a car that’s the last you will ever directly pay the government for it. No road tax. Unless you cop a speeding fine or two!

So if it’s a keeper, it doesn’t really matter what it costs to register.
France is an expensive place to keep chopping and changing cars though.

It would appear i got my calculations on cost of import drastically wrong..

It suddenly appears cars are alot cheaper to own that id been anticipating.

Thanks

I used Fab French Insurance who specialise in this when I first insured my British vehicles. Aka Pépite Courtage

https://www.fabfrenchinsurance.com/

I think they were slow and quite pricey but they translate your British no claims to French and the following year when your cars are French registered and you exchanged your licence you can go anywhere

You might also have luck with L’Olivier who are mass market but are owned by Admiral in Wales so who knows?

We use them now that we’re all French.
