Is this the CSL era?
Discussion
The last heavily modded one to come up on CC (although that one had a cage too) also sold for less than might be expected. I don't think it's surprising that more of a "collectors" market appreciates originality over mods and heavy track use. I would guess the package would have made a bit more overall if it was sold with the original parts fitted, and the mods sold separately.

What was not standard?
It has also been fitted with a Supersprint lightweight race exhaust back box, carbon-fibre engine cover, carbon-fibre cabin filter housing, Eibach spacers, 75mm stud conversion, and Brembo Gran Turismo BBK (8-pot callipers with 380mm discs at the front, 4-pot callipers with 345mm discs at the rear), as well as Parrot Bluetooth and upgraded speakers, plus a discreet Audison amplifier in the boot.Bowser87 said:

At near enough 70k miles hopefully it just makes enough sense to drive the thing as intended (& has been done in the past!).

None of those trinkets matter though surely, and in the case of the brakes are subjectively better?

Agreed shouldn't matter, especially given how easily it could be returned to standard, but was suggested as a reason it didn't go for more. I think more likely time of the year and maybe slightly more miles than some others. One for the drivers, rather than the heated garage and polishers perhaps? Either that or they saw your post about crossing continents at 180mph

Thought about buying a CSL in the UK a little more than 12 months ago as I expected them to more closely align with LHD prices (and frankly found LHD prices too high, too many other options at that price) and figured at 40-50k for higher mileage it would be a nice car to own. Ah well, missed that boat - seems like none for sale anymore (one that I could find for 80k plus).
Enjoy the cars, they look and sound very special.
Nice SCD video on YouTube with a CS and a 996 RS

I watched that the other day, and enjoyed it, my only mild criticism is that they didn't really capture the CSL signature sound very well (although the bloke described it nicely). The bit where they seemed to be trying to demonstrate it was more exhaust note than anything else, which isn't what it's about.Nice SCD video on YouTube with a CS and a 996 RS
I think everyone who's ever driven one will remember the first time they heard that induction bark kick in when accelerating hard. It's very addictive !

97,000 miles on the clock and he is asking £50,000 for it. I can see that being bought and resold by a dealer.
